We love Burnt Rancheria campground. Need the feeling were in a forest, which many of the campsites do provide. Great getaway only a little more than an hours drive from San Diego. Easy access to water and restrooms, which are pretty clean and well maintained. In terms of neighbors its the luck of the draw - you can get some loud ones but for us most of the time people have been respectful of the 10 pm quiet time rule. The campground has been less than full each time weve camped. Hosts are helpful. Great stargazing country.

This was my first ever visit to Mt. Laguna, and Burnt Rancheria, of course. I love the layout of the campground and I REALLY wanted a site away from others, which I found by staying on the outside of Pinyon loop. I didn't want to go to enjoy nature and have a bunch of revelers nearby, I'll leave that for the college/young crowd, and they can ruin their own experience! ha ha! Hiking the Desert View trail for that view is worth it!

We appreciate the size of the campsites so that you are not elbow to elbow with fellow campers. Great choice of hikes, from meadow to some challenging peak climbs. Love the Desert View Trail, where you can be in pines and oaks looking out at the desert floor. Great camp hosts, too.

Burnt Rancheria is a nice area, unfortunately no campfires were allowed when we went due to the recent wildfires, but that was understandable. I cannot recommend site 051, however. The wasp problem was really severe, but didn't seem too bad at other sites. I was certain our pup would eat one, but we got lucky.

So I stayed in #51.There are NO shaded areas on #51. Also, you walk in about 20-30 yards in towards to the campsite from the parking spot. The day I went was very hot, the heat advisory was on and wasn't the best time @ the campsite #51.Trees are cut down and no shaded are was there for us to stay cool, just dirt fields to stay. It was very hot, sand everywhere.Loved the shower.I'd skip this place.
