Beautiful, large campsites with new fire pits. Facilities well maintained and friendly Camp Hosts.

We like Burnt Rancheria Campground due to its proximity to the village restaurants and store which are within walking distance. Although it is a USFS campground, the current concessionaire (Vista) keeps it well maintained and clean. The only negative comment is that there are a lot of added handmade signs posted by the hosts to remind campers of special rules that apply to the campground. (The hosts are friendly and do a great job of taking care of everything. The nearby Outpost restaurant is good for lunch and dinner and Pine House restaurant has delicious breakfasts. There is also a USFS Visitors Center in the village worth a stop.

Burnt Rancheria is a jewel. We’ll maintained campsites and facilities. The sites are large enough that you are not sitting right next to your neighbor. The camp hosts are helpful and readily available for questions

Immediately upon arrival at noon the camp host arrived and asked me did I know the check-in time. I replied yes but I have been coming to this park for over 35 years and even if I arrive early and the site I reserved is empty I have always been allowed access with no additional fee. I was told there is a new management and I must pat a day use fee of $10.00. Having booked two other sites with friends, I called them and told them not to arrive early unless they was to pay a fee. All three sites I rented were poorly prepped. My site had a new fire ring with no grill (I was bbqing meat for everyone that evening and had no grill). The fire ring had many pieces of broken glass on the ground around it. When I checked out the fire rings in the other two sites I discovered they had at least 5 inches of rainwater in them. So much for building a fire in them or cooking in those sites. I told the management about the situation and they told me the fire rings were new and some sites (like mine) did not get a grill and the other sites had rings that had no holes drilled at the bottom to release water. I then asked about the wood situation and was told they no longer deliver wood to sites but I could purchase it from the host site. I purchased several bundles off wood to fine out that evening was all wet from the major rain they had received in the prior week. I found out that there was dry wood from under the tarps at one host site and I told them about the wood situation and there was no attempt to offer a refund or exchange for the wet wood I purchased. My friends arrived and they have a B class travel van and had parked front first because the site had a slope and the sleeping arrangement would be more comfortable. They were then approached by the camp host telling them they had to repark the rig and back in the site for safety reasons. Makes no sense when there are two cars in a site. Check out time we discovered was moved from 12 to 11 am. Overall not happy!
