This campground was full both nights we were there but it was still one of the quietest campgrounds ever. Sites were a little closer together than we like but again, no problems since we lucked out with all considerate fellow campers. We were there in late May and fire restrictions were in place. No campfires allowed which is probably why it was so quiet.

I enjoyed the small, basic campground. An onsite dump with freshwater refill (with hose) would be nice. I was able to dump gray water with a bucket and refill freshwater from a gallon jug. With a WeBoost, I had good enough cell service and was able to stream at night. Really enjoyed the park with multiple trails of various levels. Lots of bird watching. Even saw a band of Coati's along the road near Faraway Ranch in the late afternoon!

One of the best camping experiences! Flush toilets and sinks in a heated bathroom. Potable water stations throughout. Nice level tent pad, conveniently located trash bins, and cute little critters that came to visit! Friendly staff too! Only thing I would add is a big sink for washing dishes. Thank you for a fabulous visit!

You must like your neighbor in this campground. They are close by. If the Hoo Dos were not here to hike amongst, I would not be here either.

Small campsites with no privacy - I almost set up my tent at the adjacent site by accident because they're so tight together. Each site does have a bear box. Headlights/flashlights from several sites down the road readily lit up my tent at night. Cramped bathhouse has one sink and no shelf to put your stuff while you're in there. There were only two commodes, which meant there were many times when they were full. No paper towels, only a hand dryer which was inexplicably mounted so close to the floor you either had to bend over or squat down to use it. The last straw was the wild turkeys roaming the campsite and loudly calling out to each other about an hour or so before sunrise. So no sleeping in. No cell coverage in the campground (or elsewhere in the monument) except for the mountaintop parking lots at the end of the drive.

Great location with shade, possibility to take an easy hike starting at the campground. Wild turkeys live nearby.

This was my second stay at Bonita and was every bit as good as the first.

This area near Portal is stunningly beautiful! Great spot on stream in canyon, surrounded by towering spirals and crags. Chilly in the mornings, but we happen to hit a cold spell. Biked up and down canyon to trailheads as well as walked on nearby nature trails.

Lovely campground tucked in the woods at the base of the scenic drive.

The bathrooms are nice and the grounds are clean. But the interior campsites are on top of each other. I havent camped that close to other folks since Dave Matthew Concert. It is not the kind of place you want to hang out in. Luckily the campground is only 10mins from the top. Would not stay on the interior sites again.

Very pleasant experience. Volunteer campground ranger moved us to the group site because our original tent site was next to her camper that has electric hook in order to run her air Conditioner. It would be nice it all Park campgrounds took care in placing tent sites away from camper sites. There is nothing worse than tenting next to mechanical hums and noises from RV's and campers

Myself and my 8 year old daughter had the opportunity to explore this amazing campground. Everyone of our neighbors was very nice and polite respecting the rules of the campground but what we enjoyed the most is the amazing views and hiking trails. Looking forward to visit again.

The campground was awesome! Very clean and organized. Each campsite was also designated to help others know the dates of when each see was reserved. The Visitors Center is close by and staff was very friendly and helpful with maps for hiking. Rangers were on site too and helpful. Definitely going back!

The camp ground was fine but my neighbors were totally obnoxious.
@LauraH749 · Camped on Oct 3, 2021 at Campsite #21
Sites were tidy. Easy access to some beautiful walks from the campground. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets. Some sites were a little close together, but overall a really positive experience. We will be back!

Highlight was a visit by a pack of coati mundis!
@MaryS309 · Camped on Sep 12, 2021 at Campsite #21
I love camping here! I just enjoy the awayness of it and isolated feeling. The coatimundi satisfy my longings for faeries and unicorns. Bonita creek is a good place to soak your feet while snacking. Visitors center is great, really personable folks. Wish generators were outlawed.
@JeffO190 · Camped on Sep 10, 2021 at Campsite #21
Campsites are too close together. When the sites are full it is not pleasurable to have your camp neighbor practically sharing your space. Other than that, all was good. Nice views in camp with plenty more within a short drive. Rangers were very helpful and friendly. Flush toilets are a nice surprise.
