My husband and I enjoy Chiricahua, not least because of the size of the campground and the primitiveness of it. However, having said that we were on Site 12, which it turns out is a horrible site unless maybe one is going to use a tent. There is no way to have a small RV even approach level. I could not tell that from the photo of the site. It looks as if it had been washed by flooding waters or very fast flowing water down through it. There was no other available site while we were there. The hiking trails and the scenery were fantastic. The people at the Visitor Center were also good.

I drove a 4Runner and arrived at 9:00 PM in late Jan. Having read that cell service was not available in the campground, I downloaded the Apple map for Bowie region (I-10 to Bonita Campground, via 186) ahead of time. Between the map & road signs, it was easy to arrive. It was dry during my visit, but there are several dips on 186 that might get flooded; take precautions during rain. Despite the limited amenities, the campground was very cozy and in great shape with plenty of potable water pumps. The bathrooms are very clean and were heated to 55 degrees F, which felt very nice when it was 40s & 30s at night. Of course, as residents, were all responsible for the cleanliness and respect for quiet hours. You can hike from the campground to the Visitors Center (VC), which is a trailhead to the Chiricahua Big Loop and other trails. Depending on your campsite, youll be an estimated 0.8-1 miles through the Silver Spur Meadow Trail, which includes 2 small creek crossings. You can also walk along the road, but there arent pedestrian-specific walkways. Recommend checking with the VC for the latest weather/trail conditions before starting your hike. I look forward to returning to explore more trails in the park and surrounding region (e.g. Ft Bowie, Wilcox wines, etc)!

Lovely clean campground supported by knowledgeable, friendly professionals and volunteers. It is a pleasure to discover a camping space, which caters to the needs of tent campers and small camping rigs. I enjoyed the emphasis on quietude and dark skies.

Gorgeous campground in the trees providing plenty of shade. We saw coati ambling through the campsite next to us. One of the better NPS campgrounds we've been to.

Very small campground, so writing a positive review is like giving away the location of your favorite fishing hole. Has become a regular stop on our trips to AZ.

A beautiful campground, quiet and peaceful with views of rhyolite. Site 12 is next to site 11 but is somewhat secluded and had some open sky - great for stargazing. Everyone is respectful and quiet.

The hiking was great! The campground excellent. Who would have thought there was this beautiful place in the middle of nowhere.

We booked our campsite at last minute. Arrived after dark but easily found our site. Woke up to a beautiful campground. The ranger attending to the campground was outstanding! He was super friendly and very informative. We enjoyed hiking the Echo Canyon loop and the beautiful views at the top. Highly recommend visiting this National Monument treasure!

I adore this campground and have been here before. Our experience would have been perfect - except we were damped close to the camp host, a man who spent hours yakking in a loud voice - dropping f-bombs every fee sentences.

Beautiful park and campground. The sites are well spaced and have lots of privacy. We stayed in number 12 which was right next to the amphitheater and had a beautiful view of the rocks. It was not level so needed to use the blocks on our van, but not a problem. Bathroom was a short walk.

We could not get into the campground to our site. There is a deep paved arroyo just past the third campsite with a dip at such an angle on both sides, that we would have ruined everything underneath our 24' RV pulling through it,. We have tanks and a macerator that would not have cleared. So we couldn't use the site and it cost more to cancel than just leave the site empty. Too bad. It's a beautiful campground.

We were quite happy with this campground. It's very quiet and well maintained and the campsites, while close together, are wooded and so don't feel too on top of each other. It probably helped that when we were there the campground was only about half filled. The bathrooms were very clean and heated which was an unexpected, positive surprise. We wish all campgrounds we stay at could be this nice.

Don't bring your dog. Upper hikes (which is want you want to do) they are not allowed. The campsite is full of wildlife. We had deer, turkeys and so many different birds! Great place to stay.
