Bonita Canyon is in a beautiful location with plenty of shade. Easy access to the trail to Faraway Ranch. A shuttle ride to the top of the mountain is offered 4 days a week, allowing campers to hike about 5 miles back down to the campground. Turkeys are frequent visitors around the campsites.

We stayed in site 3, which was great except for the Mexican Jays that were very intent on stealing whatever food they could. This campground has smaller sites and a few dips in the road that make it inaccessible for larger trailers/RVs. Our 13-foot trailer and Tacoma fit just fine. We loved the trail from the campground to Faraway Ranch.

I love this little campground. It is quiet, beautiful and lots of hiking in the hoodoos.

Quiet campground with nice facilities and convenient access to the trails. COs were very helpful especially the shuttle bus driver.

Wonderful campground. Coati and wild turkeys wondered through and were fun to observe from a distance. We will go back again!

Bonita Campground is so beautiful and it's made better by the friendly and hard working camp hosts who keep the campground clean. The visitor's center is staffed by friendly and helpful rangers and volunteers. They are happy to answer all questions about the area and help identify different things in the forest.

Beautiful little campground. WIth a little skill and patience we were able to get into site #3 with our 21ft fifth wheel and Toyota Tundra. No problem driving thru the campground. There were a few other bigger RVs. They fit into the larger sites. The camp hosts were exceptional! Karen and Roy were friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. We observed them dealing with/defusing two different situations that required good people skills. They were particularly skilled at establishing the rules and regulations without putting people on the defense. They were excellent!!!

Chiricahua is a special place. I feel very lucky to have been able to camp and hike there. We took the shuttle to the top of the park and hiked down one of the trails. If you are not a hiker, the drive is very scenic and it is easy to walk around the paths at the summit. Be prepared for possible cold and wind, because you will be at a high elevation. There are nice walks near the visitor that wind through the original homesteads.

Sites very close together. You hear everything from generators to conversations. Dogs barking was annoying and Im not sure if the host was giving them warnings. Nice place. Not many sites so not too crowded. Lots of water spouts. Bathrooms are really nice(warm in November!). Check your length cuz some people couldnt fit in their site. Close to visitors center and 1 trailhead. Other trailheads need a drive but its a retry drive. Storage containers are a nice touch and good place to store things. No firepits so bring your own. Coatimundi, deer, turkeys, and other adorable critters wandered through the campground! We will be back!

What a beautiful area this is. The campground was so clean and beautiful. The camp host was a real sweetheart. She was so friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time. Saw a herd of Coatimundi and a flock of wild turkeys and a lot of deer. The Sunsets were amazing from Maasai Point.

Nice campground, clean bathrooms, met nice people. Lot #3 not great, but I waited until the last minute to reserve so there wasn't much to pick from. Drive to campground and drive to Echo Canyon parking lot was great, hardly any traffic. Hiked 3.2 mile Echo Canyon Loop, beautiful, moderate - easy hike. Also walked nature trails in the area that were beautiful, lots of deer. I had loud neighbors with barking off leash dogs and what appeared to be too many vehicles. Park rangers spoke to, and second night they were quieter. If it weren't for loud neighbors, I would give 5 star.

The campground was beautiful, clan and with real bathrooms. Site were small but well maintained. We were confused on the no campfire rule, we read that online but then arrived and saw everyone making campfires in the bbqs provided. We didnt bring any wood to make a fire, would have liked clarification on that. The only other bummer was no scooters or bicycles for the kids. Such a shame those are some of my best camping memories. That and no ohs on half the trails. So for our family not anywhere that we would return and now we know more what to ask about or look for before we go.

Beautiful place! staff very kind, friendly, and helpful; Bonita campground is very small, bathrooms were always clean, one spot fits only 2 adults, maybe 4, but the tent most be small size.

Excellent campground! Each site has a good amount of space. Trees provide shade. The restrooms are amazingly clean.
@PamelaP6535937 · Camped on May 8, 2023 at Campsite #3
The campground was amazing. I liked that it was small and had flush toilets! The camp hosts were very helpful and informative. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 meaning the highest rating, I would give it a 5 hands down. There was no service so we would go up to the Visitor's Center every morning and connect with the outside world; it was great.
@JonathanA23180 · Camped on May 5, 2023 at Campsite #3
This is my favorite campground ever. Sites are fairly small, most people were in tents. Saw a few moderate sized RVs. Our large popup fit snug in Site 3. Loved the ranger talks Friday - Sunday night at 7pm. There were aggressive Mexican Jays all around so stay close to any food outside. Took a graham cracker right out of my wife's hand! The campground is lovely and tree lined and there is a nice 0.5 mile trail to the visitor center. There's also a shuttle every morning to the top of the mountain. You can then hike back down to the campground, we didn't do that but it's likely about 5 miles (see the map). We did the echo canyon trail which is absolutely incredible. That makes about a 3.5 mile loop down into and around the beautiful formations.
Campground is very well kept with nice tent pads. There is a water spigot about every 3rd campsite. Grey water dump on-site and relatively nice bathrooms (with flush toilets).
We will be back!

Wonderful peaceful area with nice campsites mostly not too close. Bathrooms not really sufficient for 27 sites with group sites as well and not well appointed. Love that they transport from the campground to hiking and staff all amazing and appreciated.
Thanks!
