I love this campground and this Monument. I think all sites have a slope so levelers are necessary. There is one bathroom, so you will want to look at the campground map if you want to be close. The bathroom is heated in the colder weather. Great hikes from the Visitor Center which is a short hike from the campground. Saw a lone, and then a troop (about 20), of coati which was amazing. And lots of turkey tracks. The only downside for this non-hookup campground is that it is in the trees so fixed solar panels (like the ones on top of my van) will get very little sun. During my 5 day stay, I charged up my batteries by driving up to Masai Point for the day where there was no obstruction.

This is a clean, well-apportioned campground. It is wooded, which would be nice in the summer heat, but we missed seeing the sky on our January stay there. The campground host was very nice. There is a standup grill, which would be great for cooking hot dogs, but is less good for making a marshmallow-roasting fire. The restrooms are of old CCC construction, but are clean and well-supplied. There are no showers. There is a nice 1/2 mile trail to the visitor center. My only complaint about the campground was that the spaces are quite close together. Unfortunately, the campsite we reserved was right next to an RV that ran their stand-alone generator all day long. The DID abide by the 9 pm - 8:30 am quiet time, but it was still obnoxious the rest of the time. We ended up leaving before our reservation was finished to find a quieter primitive campsite on the surrounding desert.

Great campground, clean, and beautiful.

The RV sites are very level and have concrete pads. Little bit of a hike to get to the trail heads but the overall experience was excellent. The volunteers that are there are very nice and knowledgable about the area and the park. Looking forward to staying there again.

Bonita canyon campground was very spacious and extra clean. The camp host was very nice and made rounds often. He notified us immediately when a bear was spotted half a mile from camp. No worries it never came into the camp areas. The camp did have many deer grazing in our area. Many meadows were full of wildflowers. Would have willingly paid for an electric hook up if available.

Friendly visitor center staff, available campground host, beautiful location. Quiet during my visit. Nice tree coverage over most of the camp sites. Great place to stay.

Beautiful campsites. We have tents so cant speak for RV use. The bathrooms were clean and had water/soap. The sites were clean. We were able to fit my old Nissan Armada and my friends Dodge Durango in the parking spot of spot 09. My other friend had spot 10 and her big truck took the whole spot at the location. No way two cars could fit. So just beware when choosing spots. Besides that it was awesome to go hiking early because we were already there. Echo Canyon with teens. And some of us moms did The Big Loop at sunrise and it was amazing. I would go back and I would definitely recommend this camp site. No issues. Follow the rules (Bear Country so store your stuff in their boxes or locked car) and keep it as clean as you found it. Enjoy!

Great campground. Make sure your fresh water tank is full and you have plenty of batteries, or a portable solar panel. Our rooftop panels were not in the sun, but our portable got us through the week.

This is a wonderful little primitive campground, there were no expectations for amenities. However, the wilderness experience is always ruined with people who insist on bringing their less than quiet generators and running them for prolonged periods of time. Furthermore, it wouldn't take much in the way of a backhoe or excavator to make the sites just a little more level. Most sites are serious sloped one way or another, come on. Other than those two things, wonderful place, so glad I got to see it.

Love this campground! It's small, shady, quiet, low-key, and full of fun wildlife. There's not a lot of privacy, but the sites are nice and people are chill. The hiking on any trail in the Monument is sometimes challenging, but always worth doing. Views and rocks are spectacular! The stroll along the trail from the campground to Faraway Ranch is beautiful and you will likely see plenty of wildlife.

Very nice created campground. Only the spot height is not correct, i.e. the spots are lower as mentioned within the description in recreation.gov

We highly anticipated our return to Bonita campground after some 15 years. Quite unfortunately, our site & a few feet from where we would place a tent absolutely stank from a diesel generator being run just feet away. We hung around a half hour, then left the location, - it was indeed that bad. Huge trailer certainly over 30 ft was the owners. We walked the entire camp, observing the stink spilled over to other sites. Also, many sites were roped off & not available, & we know this is because of nuisance bears, - usually with a cub or two, just like 15 years back. We wound up racing to a dispersed campsite some 25 or so miles away, & barely got there before full dark. Overall, - a miserable experience that we will be sure to never repeat.

We were pleasantly surprised to see so many trees around the campground. The restrooms are very nice too.

The hike to the meadow was beautiful, saw deer and blue jays. The campground has tight turns and requires some backing skills.

After being in the desert for 11 days, this park was a welcome change with such different flora, fauna and rock formations.
Especially enjoyed the alligator juniper trees, so unusual and the deep valley surrounded by dramatic rock cliffs that changed hourly as the light changed. A truly beautiful park with extraordinary hiking and sightseeing as well as an interesting history lesson, ancient history with the formation of the cliffs and more contemporary history about the ranchers who settled the area. A very special place.

You simply can’t go wrong at this National Monument

Excellent site near restrooms, more privacy than other spaces. Loved the limited numbers and restrictions on RVs--felt more like tent camping while there. Lovely trails, wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable Rangers, loved the wild turkeys wandering through campground and the number of deer on the trails.
