A really nice, clean and quiet campground. The local manager has been kind and helpful as well.Plus, the campground is close to the Chiricahua National Monument.Four stars only because the space in the restrooms is a bit small if you have to brush your teeth there.

I spent a single night here. It was very clean and lots of trees to provide some separation between campsites. There were several potable water locations, and a single bathroom building with flush toilets. I would stay again.

Very nice, clean camp ground. We were here in mid November which I'm sure is a low period. Nice and quiet. Beautiful hiking with many rock formations. Well worth a visit.

Nice campground with good tree cover, which would be important in the summer. Sites are reasonably large. Camp hosts were very visible if we had any questions or needed anything.

Very calm and peaceful, lots of shade

We loved our site, it was large, had shade and we had a faucet nearby. The restrooms were disappointing though; too few considering the amount of tent campers. There was only one sink with no place to put away toiletry bags or towels. As there are no showers I would expect there to be more sinks.

Camp number 15 was more secluded which was very nice. However I wish the fire grill was a bit bigger. Not worth making a fire in it unless you are using coals to cook over. The bathrooms were clean so that was plus! Bonita campground is the best if you want some easy camping to get to the amazing trails up top.

Great place to camp!!

Campground was nice but our space #15 was very small and unlevel. We were barely able to fit our truck camper into the spot without sticking out into the road. A trailer and vehicle would not fit. Would be ok for a tent.

The Campground itself is pretty great if you arent looking for frills and bells. Campsite are not geared toward any RV bigger than 20-24 feet. Parking space is smallBut the sites themselves are big!! If you want a wildlife experience to go along with your camping, Bonita is a great place for that with the Mexica Blue Jays, Deer and other wildlife come right up to your camp!Your GPS will take you to the Ranger Maintenance building g so make sure you go pass the Visitor Center an 1/8th of a mile ish. I can be a little confusing. The Chiricahua Park experience will exceed your expectations and has trails for all levels of hikers.I highly recommend this campground!!

Such a great camping area. Number 15 was very roomy. A ton of space.

Very scenic, quiet and relaxing campground. Campsites have lots of trees for shade. There were plenty of birds and other wildlife to enjoy; we had a large group (close to 100) of Coatimundi pass through the park one afternoon. It was quite an experience. The restrooms were clean and well kept. It was a very enjoyable weekend. We will definitely be back again.

Shady and peaceful. Big dip in road in and out, so adhere to length restrictions. This is dry camping, but with flush toilets and running water. If you use solar, don’t count on getting much sun. Sites are mostly shaded and that keeps you cool. I was chasing the sun with my portable solar and was only able to get partial shade for a few hours a day. There is a friendly camp host. Bathrooms are dated but mostly clean if you don’t mind spiders. There are easy trails from the campground that lead to the ranger station/gift shop (short hike) and some historic sites (longer hike). For more challenging trails it’s a short drive up the mountain to moderate level hikes. I recommend Sugarloaf trail that leads up to a ranger lookout and 360 degree views of AZ and NM. My site was #15 which had a good view and would probably great for tent campers, but NOT for RVs. I was in a 20 ft campervan and could barely fit because the depth was to short. Other sites are less shallow and better accommodate RVs. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would go again.

Beautiful rustic campground. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets. An excellent spot to launch an enchanted hike through the rock formations or an epic road bike climb to the top of the Chiracahuas followed by a speedy descent. The hosted dark sky astronomy party one night was a real bonus. Great spot!

Clean, quaint and quiet. We had camp site #15 and it was all set for us upon arrival, with our name and reservation posted at the site. The tent pad, grill, picnic table and bear box were clean and in good condition. Restrooms are small (2 stalls on each side,) but reasonable. No noise from generators, which was great. The stars are visible on a clear night, but trees cover most of the sky. Would need to leave the campground to get a better view. Masai Point would be a great night sky viewing spot. Recommend the Bonita Canyon Campground for anyone looking to explore Chiricahua National Monument.

Don’t miss the Echo Canyon trail. Campground has great private sites. Not the best bathrooms - but flush!

I came initially for the “Dark Sky” status of the Park. But the overall beauty of the Park was very special.
@JohnJ407 · Camped on Nov 25, 2021 at Campsite #15
There remains something special about well-built and well-designed campsites constructed by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps), now almost a century ago. Furthermore, the campground is very appropriate for the Time of COVID. Chiricahua is very isolated, thereby reducing the number of visitors. Commercial accommodations are more than an hour away, in Wilcox, AZ.

An excellent campsite for the cooler months of the year.

Such a beautiful spot with so few sites to keep it quiet and peaceful. I'll be back.
