Stony Point is a gem of a camping location but the management insists it is a forest and so does not cut the grass and lets the weeds proliferate. It feels like they don't want people to come. You can't walk between camp sites due to the long grass. Its a wonderful breeding place for mosquitos and ticks!

We love Stony Point! It has the perfect setting, lots of beautiful trees next to a breathtaking lake. The little beach areas give the special feeling that they are there just for you! The water is absolutely beautiful! We appreciate the facilities of the bathrooms and showers at Stony Point. We had an incredible host this year, despite the reduced Chippewa National Forest staff, they worked very hard at keeping things clean and going especially after the delays and challenges in getting Stony Point opened for camping. We love the experience there so very much, it's one of our favorite times of the year and we were sad to leave it, can't imagine camping anywhere else!

Clean, quiet - liked site 16. Boat launch is convenient and overall good.

As a frequent visitor to Stony Point campground over the years, I was appalled at the condition of the campground in a recent 2022 visit. We were greeted by knee-high grass and weeds throughout, with minimal mowing at each site. Some sites barely have enough mowed grass to fit chairs around the fire pit.It varies from site to site, but one result of allowing this untended growth is a significant reduction in the amount of usable space in a campsite. And forget any possibility of letting the children run and play much beyond the gravel drive, unless they go into the very high grass and play along with the ticks and mosquitoes. And if anyone wants to experience a night in a tent outside of the RV, there is no space except in the high weeds and grass. And the mosquitoesrising in clouds from the high grass.Stony Point has gone from a beautiful premiere camp ground to a primitive camping area reminding one of a hay field. To make matters worse, this untended overgrown mess is apparently the way the management has chosen to leave Stony Point campground for the future.Stony Point campground also has been experiencing unusable showers and toilets since late 2021. Maintaining such a status quo in any home or business would be unheard of, so where is the management here? One bright pointThe hosts are friendly and helpful.
