Beautiful campground! Multiple lake front sites with great fishing. Will definitely be coming back!

Men's showers all stayed locked except 1 and someone had pooped in the floor and all over everything

Had a beautiful view of the lake I do wish they had more than one bath house with showers but it was a great experience and the people that take care of the place are wonderful and very nice and friendly, they have done an excellent job of making more places that you can go swim and get the the lake much easier, than it used to be.

Carden's Bluff is a beautiful campground on Watauga Lake. However, access to the lake is very limited from the campground. We reserved the campsites #31 and #32 mainly because they are close to the lakeshore. We had planned to launch our canoe from this spot. However, there was a logjam of fallen trees blocking the lake shore and precluding accessing the lake at all from that spot. We had also previously stayed on the walk-in "peninsula" where sites #39-41 are located. However you used to be able to access the lake from a steep path down to the lake from #39. Now there is an even worse logjam and algae buildup down from that campsite. I understand that downed trees along the shore are an ongoing problem due to lake level fluctuations and especially riverbank erosion from the persistent wakes from the many motorboats along the lake. But is there anyway to clean up at least a couple of lakeshore areas at the campground? Fortunately there is a public boat ramp, Rat Branch, very close to the campground. And Watauga Point picnic area is also just a few miles away and is a lovely spot to picnic and walk around.
