This was a strange trip. We have been camping here for 40 years. This time we had two sites in our name. One for us and one for my daughter and her husband for part of the time. My son and is wife for the other part. My daughter left on Wedesday morning. Before she was gone 7 hours they had someone over there trying to give them our campsite. Claiming it had been abandoned. My husband told her no it hasn't it is my site and I am right next door. We will be putting a tent up when the rain stops. The next morning (it rained before we could the tent up that night) they sent a Forest Dept employee by. We state the rules to her because we know the rules. Told her the tent would be up in the next hour now that the rain had stopped. She said who is staying there. We pointed to my son and his wife. She said they have to sleep there. Of course they will. Before this happened they had given the site next to us to a couple. When the people came who had booked the site (so 21?), they couldn't get on it because the people were gone for the day. How are they selling sites that people have paid for to other people. Our site (23) they had someone there they were trying to put on it but we had already paid for it. Yet there was another site that for 3 days only a canopy pulled down over a table with a kayak. No tent and no people but they didn't put anyone in their site. I don't know what they are trying to do but according to the rules you can't sell a site someone has paid for. It says that is at least an $80 fine. So why were they trying to sell our site that we had already paid for. It doesn't make sense.

First time at IBC and it was, with a couple of exceptions, a wonderful experience. We stayed on the A loop, site 22. The site was perfect for our 13 camper trailer. We loved the location, and during the last week of Oct, the foliage was still very good, even if we missed the peak by a few days. We hiked the lake trail twice in two days great fun for us and our two small pups. The lake was also a good spot for star gazing for a couple nights. I got a couple decent Milky Way shots although it was too late in the year to capture the galactic center. The Cherokee Natl Forest is recognized as a dark sky location in TN.The first issue we noticed was the closed water spigot between 21 & 22, as was at least one other spigot. We walked to across 15 for water, which was not a terrible inconvenience, but . . .continuing with water problems, both sinks in the mens and the womens A loop bathrooms were missing faucet aerators. Consequently, water sprayed all over the counters and the mirrors, and anyone using the faucets! In talking to a guy who has been coming to IB 1-3 times a year for many years, he said the two water problems I just mentioned have been that way for a number of years. Sad.
