Me and my family had a wonderful vacation, one of the best we have ever had, I loved that the cabin had no wifi and no television, it was great to escape and enjoy my grandchildren, we swam everyday in the beautiful lake, we took our kayaks out every morning and evening, we fished, hiked, made smores, played corn hole, played cards, it was amazing, the staff at the lake were awesome, I highly recommend this to everyone, it's great for children and parents to escape technology for a while.

This was our 5th time in 3 years staying at the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott and they have all been great. We wish it was open during the winter months and wed come more. We are grateful to Stephanie and her husband for taking care of the park. We are grateful for the community with homes there and the town of Suchess. Everyone makes it a great place to be and we cant wait to get back.

Stephanie and her husband are always so helpful and we truly appreciate them and FindOutdoors for the work they do. This was our 5th stay at the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott and I’m not sure how many times we have hiked to Anna Ruby Falls but it never gets old.

It’s our hope that soon the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott may be available year round. If it were we would certainly come more often. Some wish it had heat but we love the wood stove. Now if they want us mid summer then at least window unit A/C is a must. Overall our only complaint really is the gravel driveway… forget it if you don’t have 4x4. We do have it so no big deal for us.

Find Outdoors we sure hope to hear that the cabin will soon be open year round but until then we will certainly plan to book as early as we can in the spring hoping for a cold enough weekend for the wood stove.

We loved the location and staff are very friendly and helpful. Next time, we'll probably bring our tent, however, and stay in the campground rather than the cabin (see below). From the cabin/campground you can easily walk to the AT and experience spectacular vistas from Blood Mountain (take Jarrard Gap Trail to AT to Blood Mt, then back down but return by Slaughter Creek Trail). You can also hike up to Blood Mt from Neal's Gap -- drive to the Byron Reece trailhead parking, just past Vogel State Park. The lake is small but peaceful. We did not see any water fowl while we were there. The stars at night are spectacular, as there is very little light pollution and you are at elevation. We biked on road and enjoyed canoeing on lake.We visited Blairsville (recommend dinner at Michaelee's Italian Life Caffe) and Dahlonega and highly recommend a trip to the Byron Herbert Reece Heritage Farm (near Blairsville), the John C. Campbell Folk School (Brasstown, NC), Brasstown Bald (take the 0.6 mile hike from the parking lot up to the top of Georgia). We briefly visited Vogel State Park (several CCC structures there) and enjoyed shopping at Mountains Crossings (on AT).The inside of the cabin was poorly equipped (don't assume you'll have what you need in the kitchen), and it sorely needed a good cleaning. We saw and heard several mice in the evening and night, and it was no wonder when we discovered old candy wrappers, etc underneath the beds -- left by previous occupants. I recommend you bring your own cleaning supplies and thoroughly clean the cabin before you move in with your things. Bring mouse traps. The cabin is along a road, and it does not have a view of the lake. The fire pit is a great place to cook out if it's not raining (it has a grating you can use to grill). Make sure you buy plenty of wood when you arrive. The driveway is quite steep, and the gravel loose, but with a little practice, you'll manage -- especially if you have four-wheel drive.

We have been coming here since we were children and now we bring our children. We love LWS and will continue making memories here with our children and grandchildren. I would love to see the driveway at the cabin paved. It is a very difficult driveway to maneuver even more so if it rains a lot. The beach/swim area definitely needs more sand and tree root removal. Overall the cabin was amazing and we enjoyed our week stay. We will be back next year.

We love this place and plan to be back twice next year. This was our 3rd trip here. It could use A/C in the cabin but it is what it is. The girls and guys love it.

Pro tip: Use the storage cabinet to keep the mice at bay. Check the mattress' comfort before committing to it for the night. At dusk, go to lake to see the beavers come out and feed.

I had a great time at the cabin at Lake Winfield Scott. The cabin is big, with a huge upstairs open bedroom with about 4 beds lined on both walls (about 8 beds in total). With a washer and dryer upstairs. The downstairs has a huge open kitchen, dinning, living room, with a wood burning space heater that looks great when lit and produces enough heat. Downstairs there is also a tub/shower with toilet and vanity bathroom. The bathroom looks like it was remodeled recently. Clean and open. The limestone driveway that leads off the main asphalt road is pretty steep so you may want to make sure you have good grip tires. If you don't want to park your vehicle on the steep driveway you can do what I did and park your vehicle across the driveway where there is just a slab that must be where the other cabin must have been, because it is close enough and flat. The lake is nice, the staff are friendly. Just be warned to NOT bring your own wood you have to buy it locally there at $5 a bundle which is a fair price. I would recommend cabin or even the RV/tent spots here.

Initially booked two nights in the only cabin at the location. No cell phone coverage. The cabin itself was fine, except the beds were horrid. Like they were leftovers from an army supply hut in 1970. Board-like Hard. Lumpy. Squeaks with any movement. I chose one and tried to fall asleep yet could not. So, in the middle of the first night I packed up my belongings and headed back to Atlanta. A two hour drive; much of it a windy mountain rural two lane backroad.

I tried all seven beds and they are all the same.... I challenge anyone weighing over 100 pounds to get a decent night's sleep. So I left and lost two night rent @ 125 per night = $250. Please refund my money. Otherwise, the lake and grounds were fine.

Cabin is awesome for a family or group that is cool with sharing one large open room to sleep. If you need privacy it’s not for you. If you are looking for an experience to bring the family/group together this is for you. The driveway is very difficult and you might need 4x4. We hope they fix that sooner than later. The new campground managers are awesome and bend over backwards to help. The wood stove is fantastic but gets the cabin very warm so take it easy start small and build the fire if needed. Open windows if you get hot the breeze is great. The kitchen has a decent fridge/freezer, stove is ok but needs replaced, microwave is old but works, sink is ok (water sprays weird but the sprayer is great), the kitchen table is a big old school farm table we loved. The porch is fantastic and has a fire pit close by. There’s a washer/dryer upstairs.

Lake Winfield Scott is a gorgeous location with access to hiking on AT. Our experience both at the campground and cabin was fantastic.
