Love camping here. But there are some issues. We stayed from Monday to Friday. The paper towels in the restroom were gone by Wednesday, and neither restroom was serviced during our visit. The toilet paper is worse than the public toilet mega-roll I expected. It was thin, and perhaps more importantly, rather abrasive. My rear was sore by Wednesday, so I switched to my own TP from home. Bring back the shower! I was told it is now a storage closet.

Beautiful island! Windy as expected but we had a blast with our little friend group. Will be back!

I always love getting out to the Channel Islands, and Santa Rosa Island is one of my favorites to camp on. The island itself is fairly remote, and it feels like it. The boat trip there and back is always beautiful, no matter the weather, and you're *almost* guaranteed to see some form of sea life! The bathroom facilities at the campsite are great, and the wind shelters help keep you surprisingly warm at night. Going in May, we had mild weather and little to no bugs. Most hiking trails are fantastic - my group and I ended taking an unmaintained connector road and the foxtails were deeply embedded in our socks - would recommend staying on the main trails, marked well on the maps :)

Great trip! Water Campground reached 30+ mph winds at night, but the windbreaks were helpful. Potable water and flush toilets reduced weight on the 1.5 mi hike from the pier to the campground. Other amenities including picnic tables and bear/fox boxes made for a good experience. Short walk to the beach, with longer hikes accessible from the campground and along coastal road. Park rangers, campers, and day users were friendly.

Island packers were very helpful, the views were beautiful, it does get pretty windy at night. No showers but very well kept bathrooms, also Torrey pines is a must.

Absolutely loved this trip! Probably my favorite National Park experience so far! There is water on the island that you can drink and the bathrooms at the camp site have flushing toilets and sinks to wash your hands. I would highly recommend using a collapsible wagon if you're taking a cooler! Campsite is beautifully upkept and all the trails are very well maintained. Lobo canyon was absolutely beautiful and a great day hike, definitely take lots of water. We hiked out there and had lunch on the shore side. Be prepared for some wind! 10/10 will definitely be going again.

We camped at site 4 which was close to bathrooms and water. It was nice campsite with open view but had no privacy as compared to the odd numbered campsites which had bushes on both sides of the shelter. The shelter areas was also not flat so we had to pitch the tent in open space outside which was a little issue due to high winds on the island and especially in the campground area. All other campers were really nice. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, loved the campground.

Prefer for at a bit of a hike to the campground. But well worth it.

Great multi day camping trip on the island. Saw some great wildlife, beaches, and hikes.

Campground has flush toilets, running sinks, fox boxes for food and trash, and wind shelters for the camps. Brought my kayak for paddling around Becher’s Bay. There are some strong currents to mind but its manageable. All in all a great spot!

This is island quickly became a must visit yearly place. It's beautiful. The campsite was lovely. Flushing toilets! Running Water! Basically had better amenities than some of the motels I've stayed in. You do have to hike in with your stuff so a trolley with some beefy wheels is great. They'll tell you to take the road but don't listen to the ranger. Take the trail by the water. It's hard packed dirt so much easier to navigate. Just let everyone go in front of ya.

The beaches are incredible. The night sky is unreal. The hiking is stunning. Everything about this trip out to the island was just amazing.

Santa Rosa island is a hidden gem. It has beautiful, clean beaches, trails, etc. The Torrey pine forest was a pleasant surprise and a must see. Campsites: The flush toilets are a wonderful luxury, and cleaned and resupplied daily. The well water in the campground tastes very good.
The only cons I can think of, and it is more observation than con: this island is very windy, so come prepared with proper clothing, heavy duty tent stakes, etc. And, the boat ride is over deep ocean, so if you experience motion sickness, take precautions.
I definitely want to return.

The Water Canyon campground is always a great experience. Be prepared for high winds, especially earlier in the year, and the 1.5 mike trek to the site can be challenging, but worth the effort.

Be prepared for some wind! Overall it was a great trip but it was really windy. Depending on how strong the winds are, having some extra paracord to secure the tent to the wind shelters might be helpful. Other than that, it was a great time! The hiking was beautiful and the trails were adequately marked. Most of the hikes were totally doable within a day, which made it even more appealing.

There are numerous day hikes that take you to exceptionally scenic parts of the island, with remote beaches, expansive views and enchanting canyons.
I was on the island Wednesday through Sunday. The weather was excellent all days except Saturday, when the wind picked up with 40 mph gusts. I recommend rescheduling your trip if the forecast is Windy for the island. I did a 14 mile hike on the windy day, and it was definitely a challenge. Nevertheless, saw plenty of wildlife that didn’t seem to mind the wind, like foxes and elephant seals.
Wildflowers were abundant, despite below average rainfall.
