Santa Cruz Island was a great adventure for my high school aged Girl Scouts. We hiked, did citizen science, and went sea cave kayaking with the Santa Barbara Adventure Company. The campground was great, the naturalist, Ranger/EMT and support staff were supportive and attentive. For the girls the big highlights were the kayaking and seeing huge pods of dolphins and about 12 blue/sei/humpback whales (some right next to the boat) that Island packers stopped on our ferry to let us experience. Life changing adventure for these young women.

Stanta Cruz island at Scorpion bay is awesome. The sights are inspiring, hiking up into the hills can be as challenging and long as you want. The shear cliffs provide a thrill to creep toward. Island foxes and ravens are enjoyable campsite characters. Water was 68 and very clear. Swimming and kayaking into huge caves and long tunnels is an experience of a lifetime. It's like it's smaller channel island cousin, Catalina but so much more in its raw state and beauty. Took a group of 9 boyscouts and 5 adult leaders for 3 days. Everyone had a great experience. One of our best campout experiences ever.

Great experience with my grown sons. We began a long travel day in Kentucky at 0300, and managed to make our 1400 shuttle out to the island with time to hike Cavern Point, and Potato Harbor, before making some dinner and calling it a night. Shuttled over the next morning to Santa Rosa for more hiking. Highly recommend the adventure.

The whole island was amazing. I recommend hiking Montanon Ridge and Smuggler's Cove. The foxes were adorable and it was great to see all the wildlife on the island. I can't wait to come back soon!

The upper campground is in a Eucalyptus grove with trees that are hundreds of years old and the smell is amazing! We have never been in a campground that smells so good! It was also REALLY nice to have drinking water in the campground so that you could backpack in and carry extra food rather than so much water! The rangers warned us about the foxes that would take anything unattended and there were plenty of beer boxes to protect your stuff. It was fun to watch the foxes run around

Fantastic new bathrooms and an amazing new pier down in Scorpion Cove! The rangers are friendly and very helpful.

Be advised that it can be really windy on the island — especially up on ridges as you hike around the island. Bring insulating layers even if temps say 50-60 (wind chill will take that down even lower).
