Absolutely amazing place! The boat ride over was a bit rough due to sea conditions, but we took otc motion sickness medication and followed other advise to make the trip over as comfortable as possible. The campsite was great and it felt like we had this entire island to ourselves. The giant coreopsis were in full bloom which was spectacular. Hiked to potato harbor the first afternoon and then back up to Cavern Point to watch the sunset. Truly magical! Got up somewhat early and hiked to Smugglers Cove and had a nice picnic table available to set up on, spent several hours there wandering along the beach and relaxing under the eucalyptus trees. Possibly the best national park Ive ever visited.

We spent 2 nights in Scorpion campground. The rangers keep the area clean and safe. We loved the island foxes and ravens that roam the island and look for treats. We will definitely be back!

Camp Site 14: Location is excellent with only one neighbor, open view into the canyon and big eucalyptus trees. Ample shade and a creek which was dry in September. An island fox and an island scrub jay frequented the site. Short walk for water, slightly longer for bathroom ( which was ok).

The boat ride and snorkeling were cold. The trails were steep and hot. The scenery exceptional. Overall a great experience if you are up for the challenge. Warning: The sly channel island foxes and ravens will sleal everything you leave out!. We were diligent, but saw others lose their snacks.

Site 14 is absolutely perfect. Its the last site so you only have one neighbor and the other side is trees and greenery. There was also a creek running through the back and was really peaceful to listen to. The restrooms are a short walk and so is the potable water. Site 14 and the others facing the creek are the few private/ish sites, the others are out in the open so if you want more privacy I recommend them. Overall we really enjoyed the location but my only complaint is for Recreation.gov. We booked our site about 3 weeks in advance, and as the date approached, we noticed there would be a rainstorm. Island Packers cancelled our boat ride so we had no other way to get to the island. I reached out to Recreation.gov and they charged a $10 cancellation fee on top of the $15 we originally paid to book the site, all for something totally out of our control. We ended up rebooking for later in the week. So In total its like we paid $40 for the site.

Watch out for the pesky foxes. They are very curious.

Great campsite with clean bathrooms. Short walk (0.3miles) to the campsite. Fox boxes are easy to use and helpful storage spaces. Had a fox approach our gear on the picnic table when we were setting up the tent so they are pretty bold. We read a review about spiders but didnt see any until late at night. When the light was on in the tent we saw several daddy long leg looking spider crawling on the outside walls. Only saw one in the morning. They may have been coming out be sure of the rain though.

Such a great time. This was a recon trip before going back with a kayak as I was concerned about logistics of it all. Hiked to Smugglers, Potato Harbor, Cavern Peak - all great. Foxes of course were very cute and curious. Boats ran on time both directions which was great. Saw a huge pod of dolphins on the way back after watching two eagles battle with two seagulls for some fish in the harbor. Wow!

Great campground in a eucalyptus tree grove. Bathrooms and potable water nearby. Not much privacy between campsites but still delightful!

Nestled in the valley among eucalyptus trees, the serenity of this place is almost magical. Campers are there, they are all just so quiet you barely know others are around. Great hikes and views within easy reach.

Absolutely gorgeous island and campground. I stayed in campsite 14 for 3 nights/4 days and loved every second of it. I went alone and this was the best solo adventure I've been on so far. Four days of hiking, kayaking and camping alone just can't be beat. I hiked to Smugglers Cove and no one else was there! I had the entire cove to myself for 3 hours, it was amazing. I only have one complaint - all the day tourists. If you're a day tourist, please respect the campers and don't come into our campsite. Way too many people wandered into my campsite, right up to my tent even. Others allowed their young children to chase the foxes right into my campsite. One woman stood on the trail while her toddler crawled under my picnic table after a fox, while I was sitting there eating! She just shrugged at me. Then he ran to the campsite next to me and snooped around their tent, even trying to see inside and messing with the items on their picnic table, while chasing this poor fox. The mom then came over and joined him, also snooping around. Please respect that we paid for the campsite, this is our "private space" while we are there and our personal belongings are there. It's incredibly rude, disrespectful and selfish to "trespass" on someone's privacy like that. If you're day tourist, please stick to the trails and leave the campers, and their site and gear, alone. Otherwise I love this island and will most definitely be back.

The entire Channel Islands National Park Santa Cruz experience was special and great. From stepping off of the boat and being introduced to the park by ranger Mitha, to receiving hiking tips from her and the kayak staff- all was amazing!!
