Having bear lockers at the dock was very helpful. The camp sites are clean and the smell of the eucalyptus trees is refreshing. The foxes are cute but sneaky! Keep all your stuff close or in the bear lockers! The rangers were nice and helpful. Know that, even with the earliest ferry, you will not be ready to explore the island until around 11.

Although we did not get to stay there because of the high wind warnings, the camp site is beautiful.

Campground was very pleasant. Even though we didnt have a tree at our campsite, there was plenty of shade from nearby trees. Only one water spigot in the lower campground so best to try to be close to it. The wind was pretty strong up on the ridges and out on the water, but the campground at scorpion is protected by trees and ridges, so never felt windy. Was pleased to see the bathrooms were cleaned each day (no running water there so water to clean them was brought in a tank).

We boarded the ferry at 9 am for an hour+ boat ride to the island and were met at the dock by a ranger who went over all the rules. We camped for two nights at Scorpion campground, which was a 5-10 minute walk. My site 4 was in full sun but most sites were shady. There were no mosquitos, a few hornets near the water spouts, several island foxes and ravens. You have to keep your food in bear boxes at all times or they will steal your food. The hikes were beautiful and We did the Kayak/snorkel tour which was amazing!

Overall, a very good experience. The campsites are large and in close proximity to water and restrooms. The campground is a close and easy walk to/from the ferry drop off. The trees provide much needed shade when it gets warm. There is not much privacy between campsites and we experienced yellow jackets around the water spigot.

Always a pleasure at Scorpion! Facilities were very well taken care of. Campers were respectful and quiet, even on New Years Eve.

Absolutely beautiful. We stayed for 3 days and we were able to hike/kayak in the island. They have beautiful trails. We saw many Santa Cruz foxes and blue birds. You will see them. They are adorable!

Nice overall, well preserved ranch buildings! Fox boxes were great to have to keep all of our food secure! We hiked up to and across Montanon Ridge to Potato Harbor, challenging but rewarding with incredible views. Love that we were able to rent snorkeling gear on the island for our last day while waiting for our 4 PM boat home!

We very much enjoyed our time. It’s important to plan well for what to bring so that you are not overweight on the boat. Do plan a tablecloth, the island foxes are all over the picnic tables when you are not there. Outhouse bathrooms were kept very clean, park staff do an excellent job. Thank you.
