This is a beautiful campground. It's very close to the dock, so hauling your gear to your campsite isn't difficult. There's easy access to water and bathroom facilities, and it's quiet and super dark at night making it perfect for stargazing. The night we camped we could easily see the Milkyway and the Big Dipper looked like it was just an arm's length away. Lots of little foxes and ravens in the campground, so secure your food and food-like items in the fox box located at each campsite. No campfires allowed, but camp stoves are ok, and the fox box makes a great surface for cooking. The hiking traails are well marked, well maintained , and lead to beautiful views. There are hikes for every level of hiker from easy to strenuous. Carry plenty of water if you do a long hike because there's no water on the rest of the island. We kayaked to the sea caves the following day and had a great time. Don't forget to bring a snack, water, sunscreen a hat that can be worn under a helmet, and a waterproof phone case with lanyard if you want to take your phone in the kayak. Check out is at 11, which we forgot. Luckily no one was waiting for our space while we were kayaking, so we didn't have to hurry to pack. Our family will definitely be back for another camping trip and will definitely stay at least 2 nights so we can hike the rest of the island and do some snorkeling as well.

The campsite was extremely clean and was very spacious. There were rangers always available if you had a question or issue and I felt extremely safe as a solo female camper.

Bad weather canceled the boat ferry out to the island on short notice so we were unable to cancel the campsite. The system would not let us get a refund due to short time interval. There needs to be exceptions for that type of event.

It is a beautiful island and we had a wonderful trip. The water was crystal clear and the kayaking was amazing. Camping was good with facilities (water, bathroom, picnic tables). But there's too much development since we were last there years ago. Crowded boat and lots of people. The Adventure Company who rents gear on the island took up so much of the outdoor space on the island - just to make money on national park land?

The site is great. Bathrooms and water are close by, water tastes fine and the bathrooms are ok. The only downside is the wind can blow really strong in the winter and you have to pack your stuff in the fox boxes anytime you arent at camp. We saw multiple ravens picking at campers bags that were left on tables.

Awesome campsite. Endless fun watching the foxes. Superior nature experience. The toilets were rather stanky.

This was our first time visiting Channel Islands National Park and we were blown away! Absolutely beautiful. The campground is well maintained, bathrooms are fairly clean, and the staff/rangers are very friendly and helpful. We had an amazing weekend camping, hiking, and taking in the views!

Really a beautiful island. You can't go wrong with any of the hikes. The camping spaces were large.

The campgrounds are beautiful and well maintained. And the pit toilets are much nicer than expected- cleaned regularly and hand sanitizer provided. Site 19 wasn’t the best since it’s right next to the water spigot, where other campers clean dishes despite the sign explicitly prohibiting it. Make sure to zip your tent up to the top to avoid foxes entering your tent. They’re sneaky little guys. They and the ravens will absolutely take a bag of food even if you’re only 10 feet away- so stow it if you’re not eating it!

We highly recommend spending 2 nights to provide time for a majority of the hikes available as well as time for a kayaking excursion. Take binoculars for bird watching- and watch the skies for bald eagles on your inland hikes. Enjoy the amazing variety of plants and animals the island has to offer!!

Santa Cruz Island is so beautiful. We really enjoyed bird-watching and the foxes. Site 19 was nice and shaded. It was spacious and would allow multiple tents to space out comfortably. It is right by the water spigot so people might walk through your site, but this didn't bother us. We liked being close to the water source. Bathrooms are nearby as well. Not the greatest spot to hang a hammock but we made it work. Would definitely choose this site again.
