Anacapa Island was great to explore for a couple days. Obviously there are tradeoffs, but well worth the time there. The views are beautiful, the campsites are good, and you can get a lot of time to yourself with how few people are around. Obviously the birds make a lot of noise (I recommend headphones / music for sleeping) and there is very little cover from the sun, but if you prepare, you will be good!

Beautiful island and excellent campground for an overnight stay. Swimming at the landing is a phenomenal way to enjoy the marine environment and hiking all of Anacapa is no problem. If you're staying during the Western Gull mating season (we did) the birds are definitely vocal. All day and night. Kind of incredible and mind-numbing at the same time. Amazing place.

The sea state was rough and the boat had to cancel the trip. Received a refund from them but could not get a refund for my camping fees

Wonderful experience. Beautiful cliff overlooks, including one just up the hill from the campsite. Definitely worth a 1 night stay to experience empty trails, a beautiful sunset, and incredible night skies. Site 7 was the best, followed by site 6. Bathrooms were super clean. Lots of birds but they all minded their own business, even when we were eating.

My son and I spent a couple of nights camping on Anacapa Island. I selected campsite #7 because it was furthest from the restroom and had the best view of the ocean. The hikes are short and easy but the views are incredible. We also witnessed several bald eagles and falcons, especially at sunset. There's no shade on the island except from the building shade at the visitor center and water tank building so be sure to bring a wide brim hat and sunscreen. Anacapa was the last island of five in the C.I.N.P. that I had not stayed overnight so it was a bucket list I needed to complete. There's much better hiking and kayaking on Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa and San Miguel.
