The campground and Chaco visitor center staff were very nice and helpful - the road into the campground is terrible. We broke a spring on our travel trailer driving into the campground and really, really appreciated the campground & Chaco visitor center staff's help with locating where we could get a replacement spring. In late March the weather was volatile - everything from sun with reasonable temps to high winds to below freezing temps & snow overnight. Our trip this year coincided with a trip to the San Ysidro, NM area the weekend before. We're looking at late April or early May for our next trip to Chaco, and hopefully more stable weather. The Chaco site is well worth visiting.

Sites are small with no privacy. Restrooms were clean and heated (but no hot water). A number of the better sites along the cliff side remain closed due to rockfalls.

When people say that the road from the north entrance is rough, believe them. Patience is mandatory while driving to the campground, especially if you are pulling a camper. The rough road is about 6 miles. Bring everything you think you will need, especially water and firewood. The campground itself is nice, and the restrooms were some of the cleanest I have seen. The staff at the visitor center was friendly and helpful. Great hiking, lots of petroglyphs and ruins to see. All in all it is a great place to visit.

Clean campsite, level sites, easy access. Quiet. Scenery. petroglyphs. Just beautiful. That's just the campsite.

Lovely volunteer camp hosts! Helped explain the hikes after the visitor center closed and we hiked the Fajada overlook trail just out of the campground. Very clean bathrooms with a heater and running water. We hope they pave the road into Chaco but once within the boundaries the roads were great.

Great dry camping.. really clean bathrooms with flush toilets/deal-breaker.. but I love the desert, so what else can I say!!
Chaco Canyon is a remote and beautiful place that is worth the 15 miles of wash board road.
