Road in is washboard. Well worth it though given the ruins. Campers need to be aware of fire potential and not make campfires when windy. Some repairs needed to stall doors in women's restroom in campground. One has latch installed so lock is outside, hmm, one has fingerhole where you can push to lock but doesn't actually latch. Nonetheless, Great fun.

Gallo campground was great!! Getting there on the access road to the park and campground was horrible. It was the worst road I have ever driven in my motor home.

The camp hosts.were great. Joan gave us a handful of batteries to power our telescope. The bathrooms were clean but were missing paper towels and the blower was broken. Fire pits were clean as were the campsites generally. The park service needs to find a way to open the closed sections of the campground. We had a great time

What beauty, majesty and natural beauty! Second time to Chaco, first time to camp. Was super excited to have super clean bathrooms with flush toilets and running water! Great staff, and even a bit of cell service at the top of a mesa! Beautiful trails, pristine ruins, and nice park rangers. Will be back, maybe in the cooler months.Thank you.

Easy campground, small, close sites but location is exceptional. Bathrooms were very clean which is a tribute to the folks cleaning them.

Such a cool campground! Chaco Canyon was an incredible site to visit, and this campground allowed us to stay and enjoy the dark sky at night, then wake up early and see the canyon and the Pueblo sites with morning light. Ed, the camp host was so helpful as we ended up with a tire losing air pressure. We really appreciated his help, and hope to return some day for another visit.

We enjoyed the solitude at this campsite. Not only was part of the campground closed off (due to rock falls), only about 2/3 of the campsites were occupied. The size of the campsite was more than enough for one car and a single tent (neighboring site had 4 tents, two trucks and made due). The posted quiet hours were observed and the restrooms were exceptionally clean.

Awesome campground. Camp host was fantastic. Reservation system could be improved. There are a lot of “no shows” and spaces go to waste when people could be using them. Due to the long drive in there should be a cut off time when sites get released each evening if people don’t show.
Cold, long way from everything, incredible ruins, clean bathrooms, friendly Visitors Center Staff… excellent experience all-around. Thanks

Be prepared for a very bumpy ride on the washboard road into the Canyon!

Nice setting. No shade. Very little privacy. Camp host was helpful regarding an RVer who was running his generator outside of permitted hours. Incredible night sky. No cell service in the park, but if you drive 4 miles back out from the park entrance (near an old turquoise house) you will get an AT&T and Verizon signal. Went to two Ranger talks and they were great. This campground is really all about convenience and you are very dependent on who camps next to you.

We arrived and were warmly welcomed at an outdoor kiosk. We found the visitor center to be very clean and orderly and purchased some souvenirs. We then proceeded to the campsite where we again warmly welcomed. Our site was tidy and we settled in. The next day we explored the ruins, we were astounded! The size, the numerous sites, the rock work--I've never seen anything like Chaco! Thank you for the opportunity.

Gallo Campground is beautiful, situated in the high desert at the entrance to Chaco Canyon, the center of the ancient Puebloan world, This trip was especially nice because, besides the great hikes and visits to the ancient Great Houses, we had a tire problem on the very washboardy road into the park. fortunately the campground host was so helpful, finding the valvestem we needed to fix the tire, providing air for it and advice about driving the road. Rangers and other staff are also kind and welcoming but without the help of Rick and Sarah, our camp hosts it would have been much harder to manage. Because of them we could relax and enjoy that very special place. Being away from all the distractions of modern life is good for the spirit.
