Well maintained trails for seeing ancient engineering marvels. Very informative park personnel. Campground had standard issue RV spot/tent pad camping with some group camping as well. The bathrooms were clean and functional. Water is available at bathrooms. Campground location was nice if you like high desert (we do). A nice and easy hiking trail starts at the campground. Night skies are very dark and the Milky Way was visible late at night. Always nice to see.

Road in is washboard. Well worth it though given the ruins. Campers need to be aware of fire potential and not make campfires when windy. Some repairs needed to stall doors in women's restroom in campground. One has latch installed so lock is outside, hmm, one has fingerhole where you can push to lock but doesn't actually latch. Nonetheless, Great fun.

Gallo campground was great!! Getting there on the access road to the park and campground was horrible. It was the worst road I have ever driven in my motor home.

The camp hosts.were great. Joan gave us a handful of batteries to power our telescope. The bathrooms were clean but were missing paper towels and the blower was broken. Fire pits were clean as were the campsites generally. The park service needs to find a way to open the closed sections of the campground. We had a great time

What beauty, majesty and natural beauty! Second time to Chaco, first time to camp. Was super excited to have super clean bathrooms with flush toilets and running water! Great staff, and even a bit of cell service at the top of a mesa! Beautiful trails, pristine ruins, and nice park rangers. Will be back, maybe in the cooler months.Thank you.

Easy campground, small, close sites but location is exceptional. Bathrooms were very clean which is a tribute to the folks cleaning them.

Such a cool campground! Chaco Canyon was an incredible site to visit, and this campground allowed us to stay and enjoy the dark sky at night, then wake up early and see the canyon and the Pueblo sites with morning light. Ed, the camp host was so helpful as we ended up with a tire losing air pressure. We really appreciated his help, and hope to return some day for another visit.

We enjoyed the solitude at this campsite. Not only was part of the campground closed off (due to rock falls), only about 2/3 of the campsites were occupied. The size of the campsite was more than enough for one car and a single tent (neighboring site had 4 tents, two trucks and made due). The posted quiet hours were observed and the restrooms were exceptionally clean.

Awesome campground. Camp host was fantastic. Reservation system could be improved. There are a lot of “no shows” and spaces go to waste when people could be using them. Due to the long drive in there should be a cut off time when sites get released each evening if people don’t show.

Ive stayed here several times and loved it each time. There are petroglyphs and ruins right there at the campground; doesnt get much better than that! Also, the bathrooms are clean and there is potable water available.

Camp host was great! The water went out, but a crew worked through the 15 degree night to restore it! The host handed out water to tide us over. How great!

The campsite was amazing! Book in advance as the number of spaces are limited (a number are closed because of rock fall). There is not much privacy between pitches, but it made more of a community feel. Toilets were well kept. No showers but water is available. Pitches can accommodate a mixture of RVs and tents, we had a tent/car camping set up. In the evening take the small climb up onto the Mesa (trail head just opposite camp hosts) to watch the sun set. When the sun has gone down sit and star gaze, the sky's are lovely and clear. Campsite is perfectly placed to explore the parks hikes, in 2 days we managed all but one of the hikes and visited all of the ruins. 3 days and you could do it all. Check in at the visitors center for info. The road in is long and bumpy, we came from the north in a jeep. It was completely dry, so driving was fine, it's just tedious bumping around for 30 minutes (we are from London, UK and don't really have those kinds of roads too often!). Cars were also driving in from the north and south and seemed fine. Not sure what it would be like if it rained though, they do say to call ahead to check road conditions. The park and campsite are worth the trip, and we will be coming back.No c ll phone service in the park.... Apart from on top of the Mesa, so another reason to take the hikes!

Late season visit, so the dump station was closed, but we were not planning to use it anyway. Warm, well lighted bathrooms were an unexpected surprise! And the setting for the campground is very nice....be sure to take the short hike up to the canyon rim to enjoy the views. My only caution would be if you are driving in from 550, allow plenty of time. The washboarding on the road (before you get the the nice paved roads of the park) is severe. You will need to slow down to 10-15 mph for a good long stretch of the road.
