Understand it is 10 MPH on a gravel road for over 15 miles once you leave the highway. Hot, windy and we left early. Not much to see there, only went because it was for a group meeting. Would not go back

Due to arriving later than we planned and leaving early we werent at the campground long enough to leave a reputable review. The setting is pretty awesome and the campground was full.

We loved camping at Gallo! Campsite was spacious and level. We rode our e-bikes to the different great houses, Kivas and trail heads in the area. It was an amazing experience!

Considering the remoteness of the campground, it has a modern restroom facility with running water & kitchen sink. It also has a dump station & potable water fill spigot. However, the sites & camp road need some maintenance.

Considering the remote location, the campground was a pleasant surprise. It had a modern restroom with running water, flush toilets & a kitchen sink. There was a dump station with a fresh water spigot. There were dumpsters & recycling dumpsters. The sites & camp road could use some maintenance.

Host was great!! Bathrooms were super clean.Dump station was out of order and the roads in and out were awful. Acctually broke the hot water heater anode off during travel on the crappy roads. It would be awsome if there were a place to buy some Ice within the park.

It was very difficult to reach this campground. We took highway 57 in and CR 7950 to depart. Highway 57 is 20 miles of dirt road with deep ruts, steep inclines and the road frequently narrows. The speed limit is 30 MPH but the conditions only allowed 5 to 10 MPH. CR 7950 only slightly better its also a dirt road and crosses a river. If there is water flowing it would be impassable. I consider myself lucky as we did not have water flowing across the CR 7950. There was no cell service on AT&T. The Campground was about 40 percent closed due to falling rocks. The campground is clean and the bathrooms were serviced regularly. The visitor center is close by and we enjoyed the loop access to the ruins. Overall we enjoyed our stay but there needs to be a better way to access this campground.

Fantastic little campground tucked against 100% beauty! We were there for two nights and everything is amazing! The bathrooms are spotless; the campground clean; the visitor center is just up the road, and the stars at night were unforgettable! Very much worth the drive to get there. Chaco Canyon is a national treasure. I wish we could have stayed for several more days, but we will be returning one of these years! Excellent campground!

The road into Chaco CHNP is VERY rough, wash-boardy, and slow-going (if you value your vehicle). But once in Chaco, it was awe-inspiring. The Gallo campground had all that we needed--water, bathrooms, level sites, even a few juniper trees, although it's fairly open.

Fabulous campground to get away from EVERYTHING! This area is very quiet and perfect for star gazing. Bathroom facilities were exceptionally clean. The restroom building also had a utility sink to do dishes (campers) and there was a faucet with a threaded spout so you could attach a clean water hose (RVers). Campsites were flat, well maintained, and each tent site had a raised and filled tent box with built-in metal tie downs. Campground also has plenty of trash, and recycle dumpsters. Bonus was the community book box, really kice camp hosts and trailheads on site. Visitors center is only a few minutes away.

Simple campsite in an amazingly beautiful location. Chaco is a destination. Services are minimal. Ruins, hiking and stars are outstanding. We drove our 20 ft Airstream Basecamp in from the North. The road had some washboarding but no deep ruts. We made sure all was battened down inside the trailer and had no issues. We departed via the South road, longer and rougher. Various rocky areas but no deep ruts. Either road may be impassable with significant rain. Loved the area.

The 3 camp hosts were very congenial and helpful. The two employees in the visitor center 10/21and 10/22 were not, it was as if they were not happy to be there. They seemed very unhappy and a little rude too.

Chaco Culture National Historical Park is not for the faint of heart. The road is rough until you get inside the park boundary. There is no shade. However, for those of you who make it, Chaco is worth it, and it is definitely worth staying overnight at Gallo. Once the daytrippers are gone, there's this little group of people camping remotely, sitting by a fire, and looking at all the beautiful stars. Most everyone is in small rigs or tents. Quiet. Peaceful. With clean restrooms. Chaco speaks to you more if you stay a few days.

Campground description should be much more vocal about the road conditions to access the campground. It is a ~20mi gravel unimproved and unmaintained road which is hard on all vehicles, trailer, campers etc. That said the campground itself is very nice, bathrooms are clean and well placed, and there is water available

Great campgound that was very clean. It almost made you forget how remote it was with clean flushing toilets and drinking water. There is potable water at the campground along with a dumping station. There is one station at the campground, not at each site. We loved staying here and then biking to the Chaco ruins. The road to get here is as terrible as they say with about 20 miles of washboards. That is why it was great to camp here that you didn't have to take the road twice in 1 day. The road going south was better for our camper leaving. Very friendly and helpful camp hosts too.

The road into the park is terrible, but that's one of the best things about Chaco Canyon. Not making it too easy to reach the park tends to preserve its wild and mystical character. Truly wise management of this cultural treasure. Thank you, NPS!

Amazing place! Campground host was super helpful as were the staff at the visitor's center. Ancient dwellings are near the road in many cases as well worth a longer hike to view other dwellings. Highly recommended. A cautionary note: the road into Chaco Canyon is washboard.
