When I arrived, I could not believe the congestion. The campsites are virtually right on top of each other. The access road around the campground is barely navigable. Speaking with the campground host, I determined it was OK to navigate the campground road in the reverse direction in order to back in without having to turn more than 90 degrees to get in my spot. She mentioned that the campground was very old and was originally intended as a tent campground but has since been converted to allow RVs. My 24 ft trailer just barely fit. The "pull-through" sites are barely 3-5 feet off the campground road and would be a problem with slide-outs. A few with slide-outs extended were actually overhanging the campground roadway. . There are showers and toilets available, but no hookups (or dump station) whatsoever. If you want a campground challenge, go, but you're better off just picking a spot in the National Forest just outside the park (less than 5 miles) and boon-docking.

This campground is one of our favorites because there were 2 individual shower bathrooms that had good warm water but the negative is only 1 stall in the women's restroom. So don't wait until you are in dire need before heading towards it. The hosts (Tim and his wife) were the most friendly and active we have ever experienced from many many national park camping spots. They actively came by to say hello and helped with our many questions, swept the sites, and actually took some action with campers with loud barking dogs. The weather was very mild and was a cool respite from the heat elsewhere. It was very easy to walk our dog on the paved paths out to the Sunset View Overlook, the Visitor Center, Point Supreme and the trailhead for the Ramparts Trail.

My wife and me spent the last two nights in the campground before it closed for the season. We loved this place. Our camp hosts were wonderful….Gene and Debbie……cared so much about the park and protecting it! The campground is nice, each site with a table and fire pit, water was available at a few places in the campground. The bathrooms were good, the hot showers were wonderful. Deer could be seen around the campground in the morning and evening. Hiking paths were both paved and the regular paths beaten down with foot traffic. Hiking to see breath taking scenery of Cedar Breaks…..superb! We’ll definitely be back!

Quiet campground at ~10,000 feet. Great place to visit when summertime temperatures are hot at lower elevations.
