Fantastic campground in a gorgeous area tucked away in the beautiful Valle Vidal. BTW: The campground has nice accommodations for horses, but be sure to bring your own water for you and your horsey friends as there is no water at the campground. Definitely would recommend this campground.

The road from cimarron up is rough. From costilla it is worse with washboard vibrating you to a headache. Campsite was beautiful, lots of pens..some useful others missing proper containment heights too high too low...but ok with well travelled horses. Bring water carrying sources to bring water from hydrants to your stall. Be done riding by 2 or 3p at the latest..storms are intense hail and 40' temp changes. Beautiful. Ready to confront elk, bear and mulies. This place is not for beginners...pack your saddlebags for elevation and climate changes. Parking is great and rig size is appropriate to details in reservation. Have 2 spare tires, 4-way for blowouts, a compressor and plug kit. Horses should be shoed or 4 easy boots.
