Great campground with clean amenities and beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge with sketchy access to a beach further down the cliffs if you feel spicy. Be aware the areas to set up tents are packed soil, it is impossible to stake anything into the ground; annoying when it is windy (which it usually is in the Headlands). Also, the porta potty servicing and picnic/campground cleanup people came at 7:30 am for some reason.

Its a beautiful camping spot and I wish we could have stayed longer. The only downside is the ticks and the walk down to the site. Other than that its amazing.

It's a great spot. Sheltered from the wind. A lot of wild nature.

The form in not allowing a star rating to be selected (iphone using safari). It was overall good but the bathroom (pot-a-potty) had not been cleaned since november. It was extreemly dirty and smelly and had no toilet paper too.

This is a truly magical place, and all those who come here seem to feel this way. It is quiet, clean, private, and above all, out-of-the-way while being close to San Francisco. It is a special place for those who want a safe place to spend a night in close contact with what the earth has to offer.

Great location! Wonderful nature, comfortable and clean campsites, and lots of attractions nearby.

Should be cheaper for the lack of amenities, sites, and accessibility. Cozy little spot if you don't mind lugging your stuff back up a hill.

This tiny gem of only three campsites above the mouth of the Golden Gate Bridge is a must visit if you can get a spot. Beware, for some reason the toilet service feels fit to pump out the one porta potty at 5:30am Friday!! Sure would be nice if someone at the park headquarters would tell them that is really inappropriate!!

We really enjoyed camping under the cypress trees. If you walk up the hill towards the street there is an incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the SF skyline.

3 cozy sites, 3 nice 10sqft bear locker, 3 picnic tables, 3 grills, 100 meter walk on hill from car, nice views of bridge

Short walk to the site from parking. Plenty of spaces to walk around and explore while camping. Great experience.

Need to put that you’re not able to drive to the location at all. Really made it difficult.

Campground was clean and there is a regular emptying schedule for the portable toilet. Saw the park ranger stop by in the morning to empty out the trash/recycling bins at the campsite. Up the hill from the campsite is a much cleaner/better smelling housed toilet by the picnic tables; use that if the portable one at the campsite starts to get smelly. Watch out for coyotes, saw one politely hanging around the picnic area for the longest time.

Great little campsite, with a 200ft walk down a gravel road from the parking area. Site #3 is most shaded, with views of the bridge through the trees. Site #2 is fully exposed/no shade. Site #1 has some shade, with nice sun exposure during the daytime. Site #3 felt the most private, although the three sites are only ~50ft apart. Camp sites each have a charcoal grill for cooking, but no provided fire rings. Didn't see any postage stating no fires, so with a CA fire permit I do not see why one couldn't bring their own fire ring (given there are not fire restrictions during wildfire season). There is a single port-a-potty and trash bins shared between the three sites. Heard coyotes overnight, but didn't see any come through. Saw owls, deer, and plenty of red tail hawks. Great hiking to the north along the costal trail. Nice day hikes to Rodeo beach, Tennessee cove, etc. An ambitious day hike to Muir beach would be ~9 mile with lots of elevation change.

Site #3 is the best!!
@NicoleO308 · Camped on Feb 10, 2021 at Campsite #3
The 3 sites are very close to each other/no privacy. #1 partial sun, #2 full sun, #3 shade. #3 tent pad a bit un-level but most wooded feel with views of bridge. ~200’ hike down gravel service road to sites.
Sites were clean, sounds of ocean below relaxing, plenty of hiking to explore. Saw a coyote in camp. A nice getaway without having to go far!

Beautiful site. We reserved the whole campsite to ensure privacy.
It gets cold and wet at night due to fog rolling in and out. Campfire would definitely help. Overall, the site is a GEM
