The campground was clean and quiet. Host quickly got me checked in and directed me to my campsite. It was my first time there and I was camping in a tent. I lucked out when I chose site #14 in the Cordoniz campground. The site has a large flat level area for the biggest tent or several small tents. No power only water. A clean bathroom nearby. No real lake view from the campground (except for maybe sites 9-12 not real sure though) and it would be a good hike to the waters edge from any of the campsites.I was there early in the year so i'm not sure how hot and rowdy this place gets in the Summer.

The campsite is a little out of the way but it served our needs of celebrating Thanksgiving at an out of the way location. The sites are well maintained, clean, and water sources are not far from the non-electric sites. Bathroom was clean and operating and available at no cost. Wood is available from the volunteer rangers at their site for $5 a bundle. Trailer site with electricity appeared to be also to be well maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed spending our first Thanksgiving camping trip there. There are trails available for hiking, and fishing in the reservoir. Finally, with a Senior pass it only cost us (party of three) $30 for a three night stay. In my opinion, a bargain. Give it a try and see what you think.

Love the Corps of Engineer campgrounds! Always well thought out, roomy and good amenities. We stayed 2 nights in early July, site #14. The site had a large oak tree - which was absolutely necessary in the 104 temps - though in late afternoon the shade was no longer on our site…. So we drove around to the day use area of Emerson Lake and sat in the water. Aaah! Relief! The bathrooms had hot showers and were pretty clean - a boon when you’re camping in a teardrop trailer. I would definitely camp here again… but maybe earlier in the season. I would also bring a kayak - some nice shoreline to paddle. Emerson lake which had been down quite a bit due to drought in the last year was not full, but only down 15 feet or so - I think mostly to allow for additional snowmelt runoff.
