Excellent maintained sites. Lots of room. Was there off season so was very quiet

Perfect in early spring. No bugs, lots of bird activities to watch, perfect trails to hike on. Did not go out on the lake as to windy to kayak. Besides the wildflowers were out, and gorgeous views on the gentle hills above the reservoir.

Nice trails to walk, easy access off a major freeway. Water level is low, long walk to fish, not very much level ground for tent camping. Only one stall in mens room for 22 sites, water in shower for warm but never hot. Shower is free. Very nice rangers working these grounds.

Visited the lake at the end of December. It was gorgeous! The area was pristine and had only 3 other campers. Roads are well maintained and there are lots of hiking trails. Was able to see lots of wildlife. We enjoyed boondocking at Buckhorn and plan on returning!

Very beautiful views and surprisingly great trails. The site was relatively level. We had made a mistake and stayed in the wrong spot, it wasnt crowded, and the camp host was very helpful and friendly.

We were here on a very dry October weekend, the lake was quite low but we were not here for water recreation, we were on a weekend bicycle tour. Our campsites were very roomy and fairly clean. Some previous campers had left a bit of micro garbage which we picked up and disposed of. The hot showers are great! We love camping at Buckhorn Campground and have been since Black Butte Lake was built in the 1960's!
