Perfect for a weekend getaway. We stayed right on top of the hill by the boat ramp and it was Perfect.

Our recent three-day camping trip at Buckhorn Campground near Black Butte Lake was great fun. The campground's cleanliness and serene atmosphere provided an ideal setting for a relaxing getaway. We particularly enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings, as the campground was relatively quiet during our stay.We selected site number 7 for our 32' RV, appreciating its decent views and ability to accommodate our RV. However, one aspect caught us by surprise: the orientation of the RV sites in relation to the road access. Sites 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, including ours, have their door facing the roadside due to the campground's directional access policy. This meant that instead of stepping out onto our campsite, we had to exit onto the road, which was an inconvenience and somewhat of a safety concern. It would have been helpful if this information were communicated on the booking site, allowing campers to make more informed decisions regarding site selection. Knowing in advance that certain sites would position the passenger-side door toward the road would have influenced our choice, as we prefer to exit directly into the campsite area and use the awning and lights.Despite this small inconvenience, our overall experience at Buckhorn Campground was positive. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and the cleanliness of the facilities enhanced our stay. We hope the campground management considers updating their information to include details about site orientation, ensuring a more seamless experience for future campers. We look forward to returning to Buckhorn Campground in the near future and selecting a site where we can access the campsite from the RV door.

Originally in spot 9, as it wasnt level enough so we moved to spot 7, called reservation.gov & rep was great & moved us.Problem was with guests in spot 14, he ran his generator from 10 pm to 7 am, spoke to him & stated he used a c-pap machine, thus the need for the generator usage. Those units can be used with a battery. Spoke to camp hosts Saturday am, they were nice & understanding & stated they would speak with the ranger at 10 am, but stated if person had a medical card, may not be anything they could do. Not sure of outcome as we left a day early on Saturday about noon. Also there was no hot water in the showers next to spot 8. Nice campground for fall or maybe spring camping, but it would be to warm in the summer. Need to update policy on generator usage, especially if person has a medical issue.

Originally in spot 9, but it wasnt level enough so we moved to spot 7, called reservation.gov & rep was great & moved us. Problem was with the guests in spot 14, as he ran his generator non stop from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., spoke to him about it & stated he used a c-pap machine, thus the need for the generator usage. Those c-pap machines can be used with a battery. Per the rules, quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and they are NOT enforced by the ranger or camp host, as no one came through the camp sites to patrol the area during the quiet hours. Spoke to camp hosts Saturday a.m., they were nice & understanding & stated they would speak with the ranger at their 10 a.m. meeting that day, but stated if the person had a medical card, there may not be anything they could do. Not sure of outcome as we left a day early on Saturday about noon. Also there was no hot water in the showers next to spot 8 & could not locate trash cans to place garbage into. Nice campground for fall or maybe spring camping, but it would be very warm/hot in the summer. Need to update policy on quiet hours & generator usage, especially if person has a medical issue (and they should have to provide documentation to the camp host or ranger) when checking in. The camp host or the ranger manning the entrance gate should advise campers verbally of all rules (quiet hours, generator use, etc.) when checking in to stay in the campground.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The campground was pretty quiet most of the time and things were generally picked up and looked after well, with one exception; the bathrooms. They were pretty gross and over the course of my four-night stay it was evident that they weren't cleaned even once. That's not right. Come prepared for that! Otherwise, I really love this area and will stay again next time I'm around.
