We love visiting Buckhorn as the facilities are always well maintained. The exception is the ongoing use of a large, noisy generator. This has been an issue for several YEARS now. I understand it's use as a temporary stop gap for the water situation, but it electrical issue should be fixed. It really distracts from the point of camping with peace and quiet as this generator runs 24/7.

Even though the generator behind the restroom was constantly going , the noise level was very doable and became part of the background sounds. Nice to have a shower and flush toilets! Lake is very full so some of our Hobie Fleet weed whacked to create a clearer beaching area. All was well.

Beautiful time of year to be at Black Butte. The park hosts were friendly and the trails and grounds are well maintained. Unfortunately the showers nearest us had no hot water and there was no dump station available. These should be maintained and available even during the fall and winter.

We were only here for one night, this was a very nice pull through spot. The campground and boat ramp were very nice.

I chose this campground as a location to ride out the regional winter storm from 2/23/2023 to 2/25/2023. It was a decent location to do that. It's off the beaten track, scenic, and had the weather been better, would have offered a variety of recreational activities. MY main complaint was the shower/restroom facility. I was happy to be able to have a shower, but since it was winter, it would be nice to have a heated bath house! And though the water was hot for the shower, the water pressure was lacking. The shower and restroom were not particularly clean or well-maintained, either. I would stay here again, and if the previous issues were addressed, I'd give the campground 5 stars!

Directions to specific campsites was confusing. Driving in at dusk was hard to find campsite #. Seemed odd that the higher numbered sites were towards the entrance and the lower numbers at the end. Never found our campsite, so since there were only 3 other campers in the park, just pulled into one for the night.

This place has a serious cockroach issue. You wont catch them during the day but as soon as it gets dark youll see them running everywhere. We ended up sleeping in the car to avoid contaminating our home.

The location is beautiful, each campsite has a view, lots of hiking trails and everything is near the lake.In addition, there is a winery nearby and the town of Orland has a great place to eat at the Farwood.

We hiked across the dam and to the top of Black Butte while we were there. The views were outstanding.

Great winter camping spot for self-contained or mostly self-contained camper. Sunrises and sunsets can be beautiful. Take a good flashlight. The two designated (paved) walkways to/from the restroom are poorly located, and each originates/ends within a campsite. Paths are worn through the grass where intuitively folks think access should be. Secondly, multiple lights were burned-out in the women's restroom. Until they are replaced, you'll want to have a flashlight with you after dark.

Winter is a beautiful time to camp at Buckhorn. It is not crowded. The hiking trails are not difficult. I hiked every day. The hike from the dam, up onto the butte, and back to camp took me about two and a half hours. Simply stunning! My husband caught a catfish which we enjoyed for dinner. Other campers were friendly. I can't wait to go back!

Lots of hiking and bicycling. If you go to the dam there is a hike to the top of the butte. Also frisbee golf on the other side of the lake.

Buckhorn is a beautiful park. It is very well laid out and maintained. The came host met us on arrival, and came by several times during our three day stay. Dump station was clean and easy to access. Verizon cell and data very strong. Only negative is that many of the site will require more than average effort to get level. We did not use the restrooms.

Very nice clean campground. Beautiful view of the lake and many hiking trails. It was very windy the 2 days we were there so be aware of that possibility.
