Second stay this summer. And I plan to return. Has become a favorite campground in the public system. Negatives - Close proximity to the state highway (two lane) and because of Parkway roadwork, is currently handling more traffic volume. Motorists often honk their horn while passing at night in vain attempts to scare the deer (Bambi doesn't care). So there is noise at night, but it is not so much as one cannot sleep through. Bathrooms have no electricity, so be prepared with headlamp/flashlight. Some of the campsites are close proximity, so take the time to judge what suits your needs (I'm almost always a solo camper). Positives - The campsite layout is excellent. The firepits vary by site but generally have large, positional grates. Tent pads are ample for medium sized tents ( would not advice a large tent). Drainage is excellent. Rained most of the first night of my last stay, but no standing water the next day. A good number of trees in the campsite if you need to setup ridge lines or other suspension systems. Firewood easily obtained in the nearby woods or camp stores. Water is a short walk to the restroom area. Loop is laid out so you don't get the headlight glare from late arrivals. Except for the state highway, generally very quiet campground. AND there are many excellent trails - easy and difficult - that start either at the campground or a short walk away.
