Gorgeous campsites on Pactola Lake. The sites are clean and the pads are deep and will accommodate larger RVs or tents. The only slight downside is some site entrances is slanted uphill or downhill. You might have to backup or back down to get to the level camp pad. The host were awesome, the fishing was good! Mt. Rushmore, Rapid City and the other main attractions are within a 45 minute drive. Perfect location for the Sturgis bikers who want to be close but base camp in the prime motorcycle riding areas.

Campsites well maintained and "little house in the woods" were clean and plenty of toilet paper. I had a handicapped site which helped my spouse immensely. She needs a cane to walk. Rangers were helpful and polite. Hope to get back again soon.Jim StarkGolden, CO

It's a beautiful campground, at least the part we were in. We ran into an error on scheduling dates (our fault) and needed help trying to get a first come first serve spot. Being that we were there in plenty of time we thought this would be easy. The camp hosts (there were several we dealt with) were hard to work with. We had to move several times in our three night stay, being refused a FF spot that ended up being open the entire time we were there. Other than that, we were there during beautiful weather and had a great time.

Excellent camp sites - well spaced, private, shaded and equipped with a picnic table, fire ring. Toilets were spaced well within the campground - easily accessible without the need to pass through fellow camper's space. The water was easily accessible for those preferring water sports. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We plan to make this location an annual vacation spot!

Great central location for all of the Mount Rushmore/Rapid City/Sturgis activities with the most awesome lake and campground at the end of the day, or for all day at the lake/campground. Lake is extraordinary clear and cool, swimming or boating is excellent. Lake activities are best mid week with lighter crowds, week ends tend to be quite busy but plenty of room for everyone. Campground is like paradise but primitive, no electricity, water or sewer. Water is available at the restrooms and can be transported in buckets/etc to your campsite. Generators off at 10:00 pm. We will be back every year , our best campsite so far.
