Good spot to stay at elevation before our 4 night backpacking trip. It is worth noting the tent pads are made with sharp gravel. I was pretty worried about getting a hole in my tent or air mattress. My friend pitched his tent on the grass. I think compacted dirt would be an improvement.

Lower camping spot was very nice. Charming babbling stream not too far from tent pad. There is a designated walkway to the site, you are not walking through other sites. Toilets are clean and tidy. We were greeted by two moose in the morning.

Excellent campground. Close to great hikes to West Tensleep Falls or East Tensleep Lake. The overlook from the ridge above the lake is amazing too. Nice spot to paddle board.

Outstanding campground retreat, we stayed 2 nights. Our site #15 was adjacent to the tensleep creek, ensuring calming noise to fall asleep to. Shared bear locker between 3 tent sites here. Short walk from the parking to campsite. Meadowlark lake very peaceful. Took an expedition a few minutes east on hwy 16 to a lookout point. Look for sign (forget name of ranger honored by lookout) and drive 5 more minutes up dirt roads. Go for a 10-15 minute hike up a 150 feet for a wonderful lookout of the lake and bighorn mountains. It is spectacular. On our first day at the site several anglers warned us a cow moose was laying near the creek. We didn't see it, but the next day the moose visited the site next to us to munch on some shrubbery. Spent a half hour just calmly grazing at the campground before moving on.Campground host very welcoming, great layout. Superb campground, will return someday to the big horn forest!

The tent sites are walk-in sites. This is not disclosed in the description. Not only are they walk-in, you have to walk through other people's sites. Site #15 is up a hill, as well. The sites are incredibly small and are unlikely to work with a tent any bigger than a 4-person tent. We were unable to stay due to all of the aforementioned issues. We were also unable to cancel our reservation due to a lack of service, and were later denied a refund because we weren't able to cancel it online. More honest and clear information for those of us looking to make reservations ahead of time would be incredibly useful.

Fantastic campsite that was very private next to a nice stream and close to the lake. Maybe I missed the notice but the potable water was unavailable when we stayed. Short stay so wasnt an issue but could have been worse if our stay would have been longer.
