We camped one night mid March and there wasn't much shade at the campground. There was a vermillion flycatcher at the campsite and lots of open sky for star gazing. It's easy to get to Santa Elena canyon 7 miles down the road and a great hike in the morning before it gets too busy.

It was okay, but the other 2 camp grounds in the Big Bend National Park have better views.

Lovely place with lots of space in a beautiful National Park. Superclean toilets. And fresh water available.

The campground host was very kind and helpful. The campground was clean and welcoming. My only complaint is that recreation.gov can be quite tricky to use.

Campground hosts were great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The pit toilets were super clean. Close to Santa Elena Canyon, which is absolutely lovely in the early morning.

I will definitely plan another visit to this campground. We camped here in a 21' travel trailer in late January with daytime temperatures in the 50s-60s and night time lows in the low to mid 20's. This is a well maintained semi privative campground with numbered sites, clean vault facilities and good views close by. We camped for 4 nights (we have solar capability and had sufficient daylight for recharging our batteries). Note: this location does not provide a dump station.
