I wish there were at least some trails where you could take your dog.

We're not campground people but this was a nice quiet campground. We're used to wilderness camping.Campsites had decent space between each other. There is now fresh RO water available near the entry to the campground. Most of the large cottonwood trees have been cut down and they are no longer flooding the grassy areas. If you like quiet and no generators, you'll like it here. We were in site #9. The photo on the web site is not accurate. There are no trees and there is no pond making it way better than the photos. Cell phones don't work here but if you drive out of the campground you'll have some coverage. Starlink works great.

This is a non-electric campground that does not let you use your generator! Our site had two large trees that had died and been cut down some time ago, but not removed. There was no internet available or tv reception so we felt very isolated. We were not allowed to have a campfire either, so really nothing todo here but hike.

On our first morning there, it was calm and the birding in the campground was amazing. We saw 15 different birds by 10 am. Castalon VC was interesting. Hiked at Lower Burro Pouroff and Javelina Spring. Next couple of days windy but that's not the campgrounds fault.

Site was easy to get in and clean. Toilets were the nicest pit toilets that I have ever used. I liked the recycling of cans, glass, plastic and used fuel cylinders. Excellent camp host

Excellent fun at site 9. Lots of javelina activity crunching on the mesquite nuts after dark- kept us entertained!

Good with more space between sites. Could remove some of huge stumps on site or rearrange site placement

Nice and very well maintained campground. However I had lots of trouble to get the above ground fire pit working. The grill surface is way too high above the fire surface and couldn't grill meat even with an entire bag of coal.

Beautiful campsite located right next to the Rio Grande, away from busier areas in the National Park. The campsite hosts were great; very friendly. They pointed out an owl quietly perched in one of the nearby trees.

Nice quiet campground with generous sites amongst tall cottonwood trees. The vault toilets were clean and stocked with TP. Potable water is available.

Clean and quiet, except when our neighbors would run their engines at 2am, LOL. Thats a no-no btw, so come prepared for cold desert weather. We heard coyotes! Some nights a baby owl hoo-hoo-hooed for mom. Beautiful, beautiful stars, especially after the moon set. We had fun wiping out our dishes instead of washing them. Because dry campsite means dry campsite. Nights cold (mid-Feb.) but afternoons hot and sunny. The peace of this place restored us. Campsites have a good amount of space between them. The inconvenience of having to wipe everything instead of rinse (because animals are attracted to your rinse water and you dont want javalinas sniffing around your site - they act like pigs) is outweighed by the quiet, the beauty and the peace of this campground. Great rangers who patrol regularly and sort out any problems. Shop is nearby. Oh the campground is flood-watered, but the rangers coordinated it around our stay, so we never returned to a soaked tent. A dip in the hot springs on the other side of the park revived us towards the end of our stay. Because coin showers at the RV village? To quote a Philadelphia lady: Aint nobody got time for dat. A remote campsite for a peaceful vacation. Absolutely perfect.

Quiet (no generators), good amount of space between sites, level parking (dirt and gravel), nice views, and the reverse osmosis water was sparkling clean.A Great Horned Owl kept watch over the campground. Javelinas came by to graze on the green grass in the campground. Wood peckers and other small birds kept the bird watchers happily engaged.Absolutely no cell service. I'm counting that as a bonus.

I camp here every chance that I can while when travelling to BBNP. Very quiet, generously spaced lots, and easy access to Santa Elena Canyon, the River Road, and many trails along the Ross Maxwell Dr. During the warmer months, it is cooler, thanks to the cottonwood trees. During cold weather, it will be cold in the campground. But it is all worth it.
If you bring a telescope, there is a large, mostly clear space to set up.

Pretty dumb I think to close off one row of campsites but fill the other completely rather than do every other site
Great campground with many places to explore nearby!

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
