Fantastic cabin. We were able to drive all the way there since there wasnt much snow in January. No mouse droppings. And plenty of firewood. An amazing stay!

Great cozy and comfortable gathering spot. Outings to Sawmill Road, Echo Lake Ski Trails, and the closed portion of Skalkaho highway nearby. Also, Philipsburg isn't too far for a town outing.

My favorite cabin! So cozy with the woodstove, hiking nearby, and space for the dogs to run around.

Three of us enjoyed a two night stay at Rock Creek Cabin. It was awesome, everything was as described. It was so nice to have electricity, and the best wood stove ever ! The water was as described, very mineralized, and we brought along a big jug from home, so we were able to have pump water for dishes and cleaning, and our home water for drinking, dogs, and cooking. I would recommend the same for anyone squeamish about yellow tinged water ! The firewood available is plentiful, and it seems that people do their share to replenish both the wood and the kindling, as we did. The upstairs gets quite warm, so plan to adjust the wood heat ahead of time so as not to bake those sleeping upstairs. BEFORE you get the stove roaring, check out the instructions on the wall behind the woodstove if you are unfamiliar with using a woodstove. A tip for the managers of the cabin, please make a copy of the instructions separate from the wall and put it in a place easily noticed for people to find ! This cabin is a gem, and it seems that people take care of it, we were so impressed at the overall cleanliness of the furnishing, dishes, tables, etc. Thanks to all who treasure this wonderful spot, we are so lucky to have such an accessible and well taken care of cabin. The proximity of the Creek is miraculous, and we were fortunate not to have any moose company while we were fishing, but I would expect that was pure luck. We look forward to visiting again, and are so grateful that this is being taken care of within the Preservation Program for the future !

The cabin is equipped with an electric stove, refrig, and heat. Roomy and very comfortable. New picnic tables outside and big fire pit. Will come here again. Thanks to Pburg USFS for maintaining this great resource.

This is a nice facility. The cabin is more secluded than years ago as the vegetation has grown high so you don't see the road. There is access to the creek and Skalkaho Highway is always an interesting drive. Cabin has electricity and is furnished well.

I sure wish the forest service would put some "gates" on the fence-line immediately surrounding the cabin. Cows kept coming into the cabin's porch area and dumping enormous fresh sloppy cowpies . . . and you'd step off the porch into a slick mess.I understand the policy to have cattle graze the property . . . but A few swinging gates would solve everything!thanks--ted

We had a great six night stay (late March into early April). We hiked up the two-track across the road up the hill where there were great views and frequent mule deer - and turned the hike into a loop by coming down a drainage to the west. Went fishing down the main stem of Rock Creek and did very well. Rode our bikes on the road up to where it is closed for the winter, and went off on a forest road to explore. Plenty of wood to split for the stove. Everything was great and we enjoyed it immensely.

Really great stay for four nights in Nov. 2024. Kind of chilly, and off and on snowy, but we kept the wood stove going and relaxed. We went up the track across the road for a few hikes, with nice views of the Pintlars and Mount Emerine. Saw a moose east of the cabin near the corral one day. Quite a few hunters driving up and down the road scouting the willows.

Perfect cabin to spend Mothers Day weekend with my Mom! A walking trail parking lot across the road makes a loop and comes out behind the cabin. We did have hikers stop to use the outhouse and let their dogs run around (just an FYI). The creek is very close, and if you leave your window cracked at night, youll be able to fall asleep listening to it. Cant wait to be back!

This ranger station is AMAZING! Its hard to believe a place like this even exists. The cabin was great and stayed warm. It has electricity, refrigerator, oven and stove. We brought our travel trailer and there was so much room for it. My girls loved exploring. Highly recommend.

Magnificent views, beautiful solitude, Birds were out in force, loving this spring weather. Didn't get to see any big game but certainly found signs of recent activity. Bear and Moose scat, prints in the mud. The water was too high for me to fish comfortably but there were some good looking bends and pools within walking distance of the cabin. Fun property to explore - just make a bit of noise :) The cabin is well stocked to include extra sheets, pillows. The mattress was better than most I've stayed in but there are no double or queen beds. All singles and a trundle bed (which was very comfortable).

Plenty of room for 3 adults. Snow was mostly melted & had been plowed into the cabin. We did not see any wildlife as mentioned in the guest logbook except for a large group of deer on the hillside across the road. Firewood was plentiful & we filled the outdoor wood box for the next guests. Windows had not been cleaned for quite a while, so we began working on them as time permitted. Mattresses were comfortable. We brought our own sleeping bags and blankets having not expected that sheets would be on the beds. Didn't know if they were clean or not as no instructions about handling them were not around. Enjoyed all the comforts of plenty of comfortable chairs, couch, lamps, tables, donated sideboard, etc & large refrigerator. Kitchen was well provisioned with pots, pans, cutlery of all kinds & seemingly quite new as well as well cared for. It was the perfect location for our family to relax, visit & enjoy country so different from where we live in Idaho and Washington. Loved Philipsburg. We hope to be back!

Lovely cabin, have so many wonderful memories here. The FS has done a wonderful job improving the cabin. A couple of suggestions…put in a larger trash can in the kitchen and provide guests with a vacuum. Now that there is electricity it would help with cleaning. Thank you for maintaining these wonderful cabins!
