We usually come for rifle season and live in a tent for 3 weeks, The cabin was absolutely perfect for muzzleloader season, definitely would use the cabin again.

Was advertised that there was potable water there-- it was shut down, as was the water at the nearby campground, so we had to find a spring, and filter all of it. We expect a partial refund for this, but "good luck on that one", I suppose. No screen on back window (to get some cross ventilation), but we luckily brought some of our own to cover the window to open it. Screen door had an inch gap on top and side, letting bugs in, and screens on windows were not attached, so they fell out. Yes, propane oven worked well, as did the solar-powered lighting, which was great. Not a fan of the "integrated pillow" mattresses. Unannounced 80-horse camp-out next to cabin took us an extra hour to get 300 yards down road across bridge when we tried to leave! Don't know if we'll be back, after being there a number of times over the last 25 years.

Cabin was great as always with the exception of the new wood stove since the last time I was there. It took a full 24 hours to get the cabin warm. It is very hard to keep a fire going once there is some ashes in the bottom. It needs to be cleaned every day. The dampers on the bottom of the stove seem to not make any difference. Other than that it was still a great time.

Fantastic cabin! We spent New Years at the cabin and really enjoyed it. It was plenty warm and the new wood stove put in last summer worked great. There wasn't much snow and we were able to drive right to the cabin. I think they normally say you can only get within a mile in the winter, but even that might be a bit of an exaggeration - it's about 200 yards from the county road to the cabin.

Work crews installing internet cables throughout the entire area created heavy traffic and way more noise than in previous seasons.

Great, roomy cabin with a lot of room around it that the public cannot be at (good privacy there). Nice having a decent outhouse along with the regular indoor bathroom.Having an indoor shower was great, but the water pressure was severely lacking. I wish there was at least one "double" or "queen" size bed: all of them are made for one person.

Great location, cabin is in pretty good shape. It was strange but extravagant to have a bathroom and a refrigerator in a forest service cabin! We enjoyed our stay despite a lot of rain showers and mud that the kids loved to play in ;)

Great Cabin, had some high runoff over the road while we were there. A little worried about getting cut off but all good. May need to bring a couple cleaning supplies next time, Like a new sponge and some more dishwashing liquid for kitchen and a toilet brush and some comet for the bathroom.

Vigilante is in a great spot. Cabin could really use a once over. Kitchen is pretty gross and for some reason, every time I go here the place is a mess. People, use a mop! It won't kill you. That goes for the forest service too. When you folks stay there, the same rules apply.

My band loves staying here. We have come twice now to have songwriting retreats. It is peaceful, warm with the wood stove, and accommodating with the two bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. We will continue to return to this cabin forever!

Absolutely loved our stay at Vigilante during opening week of the big game season and then again I’ve thanksgiving week. Great property, clean and easy to use. Location is also awesome. Weather was a little too nice so we never did get our elk but definitely plan on staying in Vigilante again!

Everything went well and we were very satisfied. I think you need to haul some gravel into the parking area as it was wet when we showed up and rained some making that big puddle a little hard to walk around.

We have stayed here several times during the winter for our snowmobile trips. It is always nice to come back to a warm cabin with power. Having a refrigerator and Oven really makes it a great experience. Will continue to this great cabin for our winter trips.

The road turned out to be impassable even with 4-wheel- drive. The cabin description only states that the road may be slippery when wet or snow-covered. There is no mention that it could be completely drifted shut & not plowed within a couple miles of the cabin. After digging out for 2 hours we turned around & came home without ever seeing the cabin itself.

We've stayed at the cabin in September 5-6 years now. This was the 3rd year in a row we had close calls with GRIZZLY Bears while bow hunting. In fact there were 2-mauling's one of the days we were there. Both guys were injured pretty bad. Pretty place to visit but stay out of the woods unless your prepared and trained to deal with Grizzly's. NEVER BOW HUNT ALONE HERE
