Iron Mine is an isolated campground, so I didn't feel like I was surrounded by people like in many other campgrounds around the state. My kids had an enjoyable time. We had fun fishing in the river and sitting around camp. There isn't much else to do in the area that I am aware of.

Even though without the knowledge that it was a 6 mile drive to the campground from the highway sometimes a bit narrow and paved off and on pulling a 5th wheel it was the greatest find ever. I almost had my husband turn around because we had no idea what to expect at the end of this long road. Once in the campground we were supposed to stay in site #7 but it was very unlevel (could have been done but a lot of work) and putting out slides was questionable with trees. We found a non reserveable site #18 and decided to stay there instead. It was a great site next to clean bathrooms. We loved our 7 day stay. We rode bikes, walked all around and the river was right across the road from us. The only thing is there were a lot of cows all around the campground which was no bother until we left for a whole day and they decided to take over our site. They were laying everywhere and had chewed several items in camp and the steps of our RV but nothing serious. Just like little children they were on their best behavior when you were around! Definitely will come back if ever in this area!

We had a great time at Iron Mine Campground. It rained in the afternoon we got there, so the dust that a former reviewer complained about was not a problem. (Not that we would have allowed it to be a problem for us.) We were in campsite 7 which was perfect for us as we value our privacy when in a campground. The bathrooms were kept clean and in good repair, although they were a little dated. The earlier-in-the-week crowd was a nice bunch of campers; friendly but not invasive. The arriving-on-Friday crowd was a little more "millennial", but still not too bad. Our only real complaint about the campsite was that one of the benches on our table was not attached to the table and the other one was loose. Our only complaint about the campground in general is that there wasn't a host that we could find which seemed to give people license to drive too fast on the campground road and one group of young adults who were camped in the middle of the campground (at campsite 5) had a pellet gun and were target shooting with nothing too stop their missed shots from straying into other nearby campsites. We wanted to report them, but did not know how to find someone to report them to. A pellet gun may not be lethal, but it can be damaging. The irresponsibility of other campers with dogs off leash or firearms or no respect for quiet hours is not the campground's fault, but it would have been nice to have an authority figure in the area whose presence would likely curtail the rule-breaking. We loved this campground and will likely visit it again. There is also a group site that is set apart from the rest of the campground that was empty, so we explored it. It is definitely a great spot for group camping! We give Iron Mine Campground two thumbs up!
