Sweet campground with a few distinct camping areas on little peninsulas out into the like. Proximity to the water could not be beat. I love the variety in the shorelines, too. We enjoyed the hike along the West side of the peninsula off of Loop D. Loop C has a noisy power (?) station in it, so if sensitive to noise, I would avoid that loop. Site 38 and 48 both worked well for Starlink... but it helped that the trees don't have many leaves in November.

Lake was being drawn down with no notification to campers. REALLY messed up the fish spawn. A few people even hit stumps not used to the lake.
I wish the CORP would help notify campers , through this website , if there is some sort of major water level difference to be prepared for in any instance.

not sure what the camp hut folks do at this point???? Seems that it is government paid job and can't see that they do anything. check in on-line (if you don't then nothing happens)Park ranger drives around and places signs on post. I saw one of them sitting in the booth as a drove by playing a game on their phone....didnt even look up.

The power has gone out the last two consecutive trips at thompkins bend. There needs to be some tests run to figure out why the power fails so often.

I have been coming here for about 50 years or so and Im sad to say that this is the filthiest I have ever seen it. The bathrooms not cleaned very well and trash is only picked up if its over flowing. The volunteer thats supposed to help out does nothing what so ever as far as making sure that the camp sites are cleaned up after campers leave. Its sad when I walk around an pick up trash an the person staying here for free does not. Im not a negative person but this will probably be my last year of this because I dont see it getting any better, an all people can do is blame it on COVID!!
