This place is wonderful….quiet and charming, at least in April! Some of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see.

There was no one at the station to check in with. We arrived at 4:00 p.m. We found the site we had selected on line; however, it was not safe for us. It had drop-offs from the side of the trailer and was not level enough. We are senior citizens and have to be careful. With no one available to talk to about moving to another site, I went back on line and found what I hoped would be a vacant site for a couple of days. It was much better suited for our needs. On the day we were leaving, a ranger came by to talk to us about where we were camping. I explained the situation to him and he was very understanding and just made the changes in their computer system. He said the staff was quite reduced due to the recent flooding in Louisiana. The park itself is quiet. Few guests were there for that weekend. A slight few of the lake from our place. Okay for a couple of days, not sure if I would want to spend a longer time there.

I was not a fan of the "pull through" site even though it is not really pull through. It's more of "pull off along side the road" type site. The biggest problem with this was that my electrical cable was on the street side (like most campers) and the plug in was on the curb side. By moving the camper close to the edge of the swing out, I was able, fortunately, to hook up. The other MAJOR thing was that the picnic table, tent pad, and everything else was DOWNHILL from the camper. Not really a big problem in itself but the walk up and down is on loose gravel. Maybe not too much of an issue with young people but it was an issue for us older folks. Don't really know how you can fix it now but it should have been constructed with concrete steps or something. Somebody is going to get hurt on this setup. We camped in four different campgrounds this summer and this is the worst. However, really liked Alpine Ridge. Oh, and kuddos for the trash pickup ladies. They helped me reset the fire ring where some jerk turned it over and the spikes were pointed up. We turned it over and they helped push it kinda back in the ground.
