The campground itself was very nice. I saw one reviewer complain about the dirtbike noise but it didn't bother us. With the wind going through the trees you couldn't hear them when they were out on the trail and, at least when we were there, the dirtbikers were riding slowly enough through the campground to not be an issue. We had a group next to us that had 3 or 4 dirtbikes and didn't really notice them coming or going. There are plenty of trees for shade. The pit toilets were well cared for. There are several water spigots throughout the grounds.

Getting to the campground is a bit of a chore. The last couple of miles is all dirt road and relatively narrow. I don't know if trailers could pass each other in a few places. We did see a class A motorhome entering he campsite so it's certainly possible to get a big rig in there, just drive with care.

I would not recommend campsite 22 for trailers because it is at a reverse angle to the road. Backing a trailer into it is very difficult. If there had been a car in campsite 21, across the road, I don't think I could have done it. As it was I had to go drive opposite the one way direction and back in with great care. Getting out was equally harrowing, between almost hitting a large rock on the far side and almost hitting the trailer with back of the truck by turning too tight. The gutter is very deep so don't bring any equipment with low clearance. Maybe a more skilled tow driver could make short work of it but I took about 20 or 30 minutes each movement.

Mid-week it's quiet, it's clean and the sites are level and spacious. We chose Columbine for it's proximity to Mt. Evans, about an hour away. We dropped our truck camper at the site to safely and easily drive up the mountain. Our time spent here was perfect!
