Went in late September so many nearby sites were empty which was nice. Campsite and restrooms were clean. However, noise from Highway 14 was loud and constant. Didn't realize how close Site 10 was to Hwy 14 when we booked. Otherwise a great stay.

Have stayed here before and campsite and bathroom clean. The fire pit was excessively full and we had to empty as well as the grill. There was no camp host our entire stay as it looked they had left for the season.

The lake is almost completely drained. I received a warning that the lake level was low and water access was limited in some places. There is a small section of the lake left undrained, however you have to walk half a mile through dry lake and cross a stream to get to it. We brought paddle boards, others at the campground brought kayaks, but nobody was out on the lake.

The campsite and facilities were great. The Lake part of Chambers Lake was non existent. We should have done our homework, but a heads up that the lake was dry would have had us camp at another spot. Will be back, sure its pretty amazing with water in it.

The lake is drained so no paddle boarding and no fishing. Also much of the area was burned in the fire a few years ago so not super green. The host is ok though not willing to refund us or let us cancel through him.

Stayed at Chambers Lake even though I was advised by Recreation.gov emails that the lake levels were "low". The lake was actually drained. This was a major disappointment as this was planned as a kayaking trip. Aside from that the campground is a great place to hang out. Stayed on site 49 which is on a ridge overlooking the "lake" about a 50 yard walk from the parking area. Nice spacing between sites on this part of the peninsula that juts out into the lake.

Beautiful campground and nice location close to lots of good hiking trails. Lake was very low, almost empty, during our visit. Wed love to go back when the lake is at anormal level.

The lake was drained, so it was weird. But the campsite was clean, great campground , beautiful forest coming back after the Cameron fire

No water in the lake next to CG, and warning should have been sent out to campers last spring so we could alter our plans.

No water in lake next to campground. Also, it was very difficult to access the remaining water. Poor communications with campers. We were not informed about the low lake levels until just a couple of weeks before our reservations.

Theres a stream where the lake once was, super fun for the littles to play and cross the stream. Interesting experience to stand where a lake was, but Im happy itll be back some day.

We received notice that the lake was low, but in fact it was completely empty because they are draining it to work on the dam. Extremely disappointing to drive three hours, pack kayaks, pack the camper, take time off of work and go up with friends to find the lake completely gone. Better communication about what was going on would be nice.

Chambers lake is drained for repair on the dam. However, the camp sites are great. The bathrooms were clean, the bear boxes are large and clean, there were plenty of trees in each site to hang hammocks and have a touch of privacy. The running water is potable. The drained lake has creeks running through it and my kids thought that was amazing. The camp host was lovely. It was windy as heck and our site, 36, took the brunt of it sitting on the peninsula and slightly higher elevation. We would camp here again.

Campground was excellent. It would have been helpful. If the message received about the low level of the lake was accurate. The lake is basically a pond.
@HollyB7680204 · Camped on Jul 31, 2025 at Campsite #18
Recreation.gov sent out a notice that lake levels were "low." Try pretty much the lake is now a pond. Needless to say there was no kayaking or paddleboarding and for full price camping it was not worth it. The sites were nice but without water in the lake there was not much to do.

Even though the lake level was low, it is such a beautiful area. Great campsite and clean facilities.
@MartinT6691297 · Camped on Jul 28, 2025 at Campsite #8
There is NO lake. The burn scar in the area is so depressing to see. But the bathrooms are clean. Never saw the hosts though.

There was no water !! We were notified late and did not go . Tried to get a refund but have not seen it yet . We go to enjoy fishing there and the beauty of the area . Hope to return some day . Have also canceled our trip there in September. Its always been a beautiful campground to stay at .

Was very disappointed about the lake being completely dried up. We didnt receive notice about it until after we had already booked and no time to find a new camp site. The notice said lake levels may be low in some areas, but we walked all the way down and around and the ENTIRE thing was dried up to nothing but a stream. Other than that, the campground was well maintained and other campers were respectful of noise for the most part, but there was a group campsite that was loud well past 11pm.

The lake was EMPTY. Boo. We have had wonderful times here before.

Like others, we were very disappointed to find the lake unexpectedly drained. However, this presented a unique and memorable opportunity to explore a dry lakebed. The mud was mostly solid enough to walk on, and the experience was surreal.If you have small watercraft, or want to fish, there is another lake (Barnes Meadow Reservoir) with roadside parking 1/4 mile east on Highway 14. Easy to miss because you can only see the dam from the road, but you can walk in next to the spillway. Lovely paddleboarding there - saw a moose!The camp host didn't proactively introduce himself but was very friendly when approached. The pit toilets smelled worse than most, but that's not his fault - he does mop them out. One little perk - tons of free firewood stacked for the taking next to the boat launch parking lot, if you're willing to split it yourself. This was a lemonade out of lemons camping trip. Minus the lake, the campground itself is still really nice with plenty of big shade trees. We"ll be back!

The one star is due to the lake being drained and now a giant wet mud pit. Wouldve been nice to have been alerted to this prior to our arrival. The host kept the bathrooms immaculate and well stocked. Just super bummed on the empty lake.

We go annually to Chambers, but this year the lake was drained for a dam repair, and no one was given any notice. Our site looked over the mud, and no one could reasonably get anything on the water. A notice of the lake being drained mid-July would have been extremely helpful.Not sure if there is a new camp host/manager this year, but the bathrooms were the worst weve seen them, all the signage about bears, regulations, wildlife, etc. had been removed from the bulletin boards at outhouses, and it was a very unfriendly environment all around! Reconsider any trips to Chambers anytime soon!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
