Reserved site #13 on line for August 15th. On arriving, this site has no flat areas and you must pass directly through site #12 to access. The entire campground was EMPTY except us. We decided to move to site #12 to get a flat area. I informed the host out of courtesy of our move to the empty adjoining site. He said NO! I had to pay him $20 to make the change. If I did it on-line, it would be zero fee. THERE IS NO CELL COVERAGE at this campground, so it is impossible to go online and make that useless, idiotic, and bureaucratic change. Another caretaker drove by and said he didn't see a problem moving if it was his call. The dude at Brookchar would NOT budge...he wanted his $20 bucks ( I have a senior pass and at worst it would have been $8.00 if there had really been a fee to collect, which there was not). Told him to stuff it and to contact his manager. He refused. The other caretaker guy drove away and and said he would discuss it with her. Bear in mind, the entire campground had zero reservations for that evening besides us. Completely empty and zero risk site #12 would have someone coming later. The non-host worker guy returned later to inform me that the manager had "OK'ed" the change for no fee over the objections of the "Host". It is zero fee to change a campsite....zero! Camped in most of the 50 states over past 50 years, never ever had a host try and extort cash from me,The host was a total buzzkill. Beware....BTW...for people who think the sites are well spaced, I walked off the distance between 12, 13, 11, etc...basically 45 to 50 feet between picnic tables. Not a lot as some have stated. I could tell what your eating at the next picnic table if I looked.

When I called about a few questions my call was returned in a couple of hours and all my questions were answered! The store was great and the employees were so helpful! The ranger taking care of brookchar very informative!

I camped here just after Labor Day weekend and had the place to myself. The camp host was really helpful, and I liked how close the sites were to the lake. I knocked off a star only because the campground is right off of Big Lake Road and it was pretty loud in the early morning as cars drove by.

TLDR: If you want peace and quiet seek elsewhere.

I do not recommend staying here if you want to relax. The camp host does not enforce rules even during COVID. I rented two sites one for me and my partner and another for my sibling and his partner. We were unable to use one site completely because the site next to us has 11 tents on it. Yes, 11 tents. The site that bordered ours had another 8. These sites are meant for 1 to 2 tents tops. They also had 3 generators running and rant lights between each tent while occupying the site water spout. When confronting the host he said they are able to do whatever they want until quit hours. At 10 pm I and other campers confronted him over the loud noises still coming from their site(s) and all he did was tell them they will need to buy more campsites the next night. THEY DID NOT, THEY DID THE SAME THING THE NEXT NIGHT.
