Beautiful area, loved that hiking trails were so close by. Will definitely be back!

Having a shelter made the difference between this trip being good and being miserable.
Beautiful area even in the rain.

I stayed at site #11. It was my first time sleeping in an Adirondack style shelter. I set up a cot and used a modular sleep system for the night. It dipped into the low 50s but I was plenty warm and I had a nice view of the fire from my sleeping bag. I could also enjoy seeing the moon through the trees and the sun shining through the next day.
The campground and campsites were in great condition and the host family were very friendly.
I took advantage of hiking in the Hearts Content Scenic Area. The trail there was well maintained and traveled through some very impressive old growth forest. I also took advantage of hiking some of the North Country Trail located near by. There are other trails in and around the campground so I would consider this a hikers paradise as well.
If your looking for a quiet get away I would definitely suggest you visit the Hearts Content Campground.

This was my second stay at Heart’s Content, and the first with my wife and 4 year old daughter. We all had a fantastic time, and I’m hoping that we can make it an annual trip. There are a ton of trails in the area, and the old growth forest across the road from the campground is beautiful. My daughter enjoyed the playground and looking for bugs and salamanders under logs and rocks and leaf piles. My wife likes getting out and seeing various points of interest when on vacation, and the entire National Forest and surrounding areas are within day trip range of the campground. We took a day away from camp and visited Kinzua Bridge, and the Allegheny Reservoir and Kinzua Dam, and had dinner in Warren before returning to camp. In addition to hiking, I enjoy lounging around and reading when I’m on vacation, and the campground provided a nice quiet place to do so. I highly recommend Hearts Content for a nice quiet camping trip, with plenty of options for fun activities nearby.
