This cabin is large with a separate sleeping area although there is only space for 5 to sleep not 6 as advertised in the BLM information. There is plenty of space outside around the cabin to pitch a tent. The cabin is well maintained and the location is beautiful. One of the best federal cabins I have been to. Make sure that you rent kayaks so that you can get out on the lake to explore. The fishing for grayling was excellent.

We lucked out and the weather cooperated for our entire 3 day stay for a fly-in adventure. The cabin is in a great shape. Thank you NPS for the extra bug netting, and bunk bed pads; both unexpected and totally appreciated. The only thing made better is if there was a working rowboat/canoe/kayak.

Great cabin with great views! We really appreciated the wood stove since it was chilly!

Great cabin. Great view. Great driftwood. Highly recommend paddling to the cabin—weather dependent.

I didn't know how many stars to give because unfortunately I never was able to use the cabin. I flew there in a supercub on floats (PA/18), but the winds were blowing and the waves were high when I arrived. A landing might have been possible, but there was nowhere I could see to pull the plane to a spot to safely tie it, and with the winds shooting down Lake Clark the white caps were not comforting. I think the cabin location is awesome, and the views would be spectacular, but from the perspective of leaving a float plane tied up there it isn't an ideal place because there does not appear to be any safe place to tie the plane. There appears to be a little lagoon of sorts in front of the cabin, but from flying over it from the air at least it did not seem possible to pull the plane into it from Lake Clark, and consequently I opted not to land and not to risk damaging the aircraft by trying to stay there. A better option for a plane on floats might be to land at Port Alasworth, where there is wind protection, and charter a boat to the cabin. Again, the cabin is an incredible location, seems to be a great place to stay, but from the perspective of an aircraft owner I probably won't try to stay there again.
