Favorite campground of all Ive ever stayed at! Love everything about it, including the amazing vegetation, paved roadways around campgrounds, dish washing stations, wide variety of birds, one-way loop with spectacular view spots, etc.!!! The rangers and volunteers have always been very helpful and friendly and I especially appreciate the cleanliness of the whole campground!!!

Been trying for years to stay here. Keep trying. Its worth the wait if youre looking for wooded, private sites.

The campground is very clean and easy to maneuver, Utilites within easy access. The only downside is the two-month reservation window. If you are traveling from a long distance you have to make reservations at a commercial campground you can cancel if you are unsuccessful. Reservations need to be 6 months in advance, as with other locations.

One of our favorite destinations of all time. Too bad that reservations via the recreation.gov site are so tricky. It took us a while to figure out that we need high-speed internet to reserve a site at 10am -- or more luck -- to land several nights back-to-back. I get it...the campground is one of the closest to an extraordinary national park in the US. Can't wait to return next month.

We camped in our travel trailer on Site B 25. It was a clean large site, and mostly level. This was our third time camping there. We were there during the grand opening when Senator Angus King camped there and gave a dedication speech. This campground never disappoints. My only 2 complaints are that the WIFI stinks...and we were only about 100 ft from the closest bathroom. Also, our picnic table was deteriorating badly on one end of a bench, and it was a splinter hazzard. Being in an RV with our own bathroom we had no complaints, but I heard a lady leaving the public bathroom loudly complaining that there are no showers. My understanding is that it costs about $20 to shower at the public showers several miles away. That is a terrible inconvenience for travelers, and I am sure it is a total shock to newcomers. I just can't understand why a brand new facility would not have showers in the rest room. By the way, our nightly charge was only $25 per night with our senior National Park pass discount. So, a $20 shower is pretty crazy. The surrounding coastal beauty negates anything negative I have to say about the campground. The point is awesome and all of the surrounding scenery is gorgeous. We left a day early because being ready to depart by a 10am check out is pretty hard for old folks like us.

First, the GOOD. Of all the US National Park Service Campgrounds I have visited, this is the most thoughtfully constructed and modern. The campground was designed with modern campers in mind and can comfortably accommodate everything from Class A motorhomes and FifthWheel trailers to tents and Pop-Up campers. All of the campsites are roomy and provide PRIVACY and QUIET that campers want. The restrooms, are beautiful in their construction and clean to the point of being pristine. Now, the BAD. Schoodic Woods "boasts" WiFi Internet access, but this is simply NOT TRUE. There seems to be some sort of very rudimentary WiFi system, and campers are given the passphrase when they sign in at the Ranger Station upon entry. BUT THE SYSTEM WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AT BEST AND WIFI RECEPTION IS EXTRMELY POOR, with frequent outages and slowdowns. Now the absolutely UGLY. THERE ARE NO SHOWER OR LAUNDRY FACILITIES AT SCHOODIC. And things can get real UGLY when you combine a lack of showers with the wearing of dirty clothes. Once upon a time, there was a shower and laundry facility in the neighboring town of Winter Harbor, one that was offered at the Schoodic Institute's Marine Center on Sargent Street. However, the facility closed in 2020 due to COVID and the Institute was unable to find any business partners locally who were interested in taking over the facility. Subsequently, the facility was leased to a local Lobster Fishermen's consortium who refuse all public access to the showers and the laundromat. The nearest shower facility is 48 miles away and the nearest laundromat is 25 miles away. The town of Winter Harbor shows absolutely no interest in providing any needed services or infrastructure to the campground. Lack of essential washing facilities is why Schoodic gets a low rating from me. Until improvements are made, I cannot recommend this place to anyone without a shower or laundry in their RV.

Very friendly and informative. However I wished I would have known no RV travel to the point. If we had known we would have made arrangements.

We had two spots reserved months before our trip. We were involved in an accident on our way, so cancelled, but decided to rebook and combine into one spot within hours . We had to move four times in two weeks, even though we asked for spots that were empty for longer times. Clearly one ranger that was not trying to help us, but there were two women there that implied they would have accommodated us. He said they have to keep sites open in case there were any problems with flooding or no electricity and such. The campground was closing in a week, so I highly doubt that and thought that he could have been a little more sympathetic to our situation. Its a beautiful campground and was our second time there.
