Very friendly helpful and knowledgable staff. Campsite was clean and private and had a bear box. Area is stunning and quiet and relaxing.

As long as you are prepared for a bit of a walk, hike in site 9 has much more of a wilderness feel than your typical N.P.S. campground. Loved it!

We camped at the farthest hike-in campsite H9 which is ~1/3 of a mi from the hike-in lot. Designated bathroom at start of trail is clean. Bring a headlamp during the evening/night hours. H9 was atop a cleared hill, great for stargazing. Next time, we will talk to staff about a safety plan in case of a storm, as a severe lightening was present on our last night that gave us a bit of a scare, but added to the adventure!

Quiet side of Acadia, we choose the farthest Hike In/Out spot, campsite 9 I think, up on the ridge. The hike is no joke, definitely looked shorter on the map, took three trips to get all our stuff out there because we were not set up for backpacking. It was magical. The dogs loved the hike as we were totally immersed in forest. The camp spot was on top of the hill and we situated our hammock high so we could see the water. Beautiful sunset, very secluded spot. Bear can worked great, campsite was not grated but camping platform was well grated and maintained. This was the spot someone let a fire get out of control earlier in the summer so there was a lot of charred earth which was a bit surreal. Otherwise great trip!

We lucked out with the campsite as there was a last-minute cancellation and we got the spot 2 weeks prior to our labor day weekend trip. The cancellation turned out to be due to a small fire damage, but it was very minor. Site 9 is a half mile hike in the woods, so plan for that in your daily schedule. We loved how secluded and quiet it was and the surrounding views including the night sky were gorgeous! The restrooms in the main section were clean and had running water; there was even a separate sink for washing dishes, etc. There are no showers on site, so you would need to go outside of the park for shower facilities. Overall, highly recommend this campground
