One of our favorite campgrounds in spite of road noise from I-70 (which won't bother you if you know to expect it). Sites are well-spaced and private, some with excellent water access. The access to the Summit County rec path cannot be beat and is largely why we keep coming back. We don't use the bathrooms, so I can't speak to that.

Site B21 is very nice, with trees on both sides so neighbors don't seem so close. It is a short walk to the reservoir for kayaks and paddle boards, with great views of the mountains to the east. The bike trail is nearby with access to Frisco and Dillon. The bathrooms are across the road but had no odor. However, one of the two toilets was locked which meant a waiting line in the morning hours. Not sure why the one was locked. Never able to ask the campground host because we were gone most of the time. Otherwise, all was quiet except for the traffic on I-70, a given at Heaton Bay campground.

We were in site 21 with our 35 foot 5th wheel. Super nice and private feeling right on the lake. Our favorite campground in the Frisco area. Bike path access, close to town but not too close. Host we met was friendly as well. Water to fill our tanks on our loop was a welcome site as none of the others around the area offer this. Good Verizon service!

The last time we were at Heaton Bay was years ago and many of the trees had died from Pine Beetle I believe. So we just wanted a quick get away and decided to go there again anyway. This time there is all this beautiful new growth and it was full of pine trees and beautiful 360* views from our campsite. The lake was way down because of the drought but it was still beautiful. The bike trail is right off the campground so we used it daily. Also saw some bald eagles across from our campsite, that is always a treat. We had a wonderful time and will be back soon!
