We stayed at Lone Rock (CA) in sites 28, 30, and 32. The drive in is steep for a mile or two if youre coming from 395, or about 50 miles of washboard road from Truckee. That said, plenty of people got big trailers up there without trouble.The sites themselves were awesomebig, shady, and spread out. 30 and 32 were tucked under tall trees (though 32s pad is tiny; it fits a single large truck). 28 was farther away but still private and shaded. All of them were close to the lake, which made for an easy paddleboard launch. The lake is gorgeous and surprisingly quiet on this end. Just bring a PFD; the sheriff does check. The vault toilets were clean, stocked, and only occasionally smelly (as expected). There are water spigots, too.Wildlife was everywherebears, deer, bald eagles, and chipmunks. No bear boxes. As for the downsides: parking pads could use some maintenance, but I was still able to park level so not a big deal. Fire pits are hit or miss (ours was pretty full, others were great for fires and cooking). Noise depends on your neighborsone night, we had rowdy campers in the other loop until 1 a.m., and another morning, someone was yelling at their kids; it was awful to hear. The camp hosts were nice but not super visible or strict about noise. Overall, this spot is beautiful and worth the trek. Id definitely go backprobably midweek to avoid the less pleasant campers.

The location at Lone Rock is beautiful, and most camping spots are very spacious. Unfortunately, the campground is being allowed to slowly deteriorate. The roads and parking pads within the campground are badly in need of repair. Trees that have died and fallen down are just left in the campsites. Some logging was done last year and logs were left behind. The hosts do a great job of cleaning up the campsites and bathrooms the best they can. There was no firewood available in the campground during my last trip.

Very nicely maintained facility. Campground hosts were friendly, helpful and did a great job on facility maintenance. The lake and surrounding area are beautiful but remote. Be prepared as its quite a ways for fuel, ice or other supplies.

The campground is in a bad state. There hasn't been any maintenance in many years. There are fallen trees laying everywhere! I understand felling the dead trees for hazard reasons but they should also be removed. At the very least, buck them up so campers can use them as firewood. Bear proof containers would be very welcome! Vehicles were parked off of the pavement in many campsites even though it is prohibited. Campground hosts did keep the bathrooms clean...

Our time at Lone Rock was delightful and relaxing. The bathrooms were clean, the campground was in good shape. The only thing that keeps me from assigning a 10 out of 10 is that the camp hosts were not helpful and seemed to neglect some of the labeling duties for the campsites.

Camp spots are large and spaced out. Lake is awesome! Great trees for shade during the day.

The camp hosts were awesome and they kept the bathrooms clean and well stocked. To make the bathrooms better, having full hand sanitizer dispensers in every bathroom would be a great enhancement The only negative about the site was that the asphalt pad needs repair.

We had space 72. When we arrived we found the pad in poor condition with one side of the asphalt disintegrating. This made it impossible to park our trailer on it without possibly damaging it so we ended up finding an unoccupied first come first serve space. We paid for the original reservation and the camp host was unable or unwilling to transfer us to the new space so we ended up paying for two spaces. Also, the vault toilet next to our new site was locked.

The new camp host Dennis was absolutely great. After the last camp host not even clearing the roads last year it was so nice to see someone else that actually cared about the campground. Dennis even had all the camp sites cleared. We cant wait to get back to our favorite campground and campsite.

Jesse Tiffany and his wife were awesome! There was a mix up with the reservations. Double booked the same site. But we got a different site and loved it. They were so helpful and they were one of the best campground hosts we have ever had!!! Bring them back next year please!!!!

This place is beautiful! The campsite is HUGE and everyone there (with the exception of one neighbor) were super sweet! The camp host, I truly cannot say enough nice things about! She went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of, needs were met, and having fun! Highly recommend coming here and will absolutely be coming back to camp again next year!

Our family of 45 people reserved 7 campsite for our annual camping trip. It was our first time at Lone Rock and Antelope Lake but we would definitely go back. Sheila the campground host is direct and no nonsense type of gal but not in a bad way. She just wants everyone to enjoy their time at the campground and for everyone to be considerate. She laid down the law and was not shy about telling us she would kick us out if we did not respect quiet time. We respected the rules and were considerate of other campers and there were no issues. I do wish the campground had cleaner swimming area so we didnt have to haul our belongings somewhere else but we still had lake time at another day use spot nearby. This is definitely a secret gem. On a busy 4th of July weekend, we didnt struggle to find space or feel congested. Thank you Lone Rock staff for taking care of the property and bathrooms. We will be back!

The campground in general is a shambles. Roads, asphalt pads and fire rings are shoot. I have been going there for 35 years and watched a steady uninterrupted decline in the facility.

Memorial Day weekend 2024. The Forestry Service cut down trees and stacked the logs and branches in my RV spot 022. The spot was unusable without moving the logs and branches. My wife and I spent at least an hour re-stacking the logs and moving two large stacks of branches. Thank you Forest Service for getting my Memorial Day weekend off to a great start!

The camp hosts this year (Shiela & Marty) were great! They kept the bathrooms clean and well-stocked. They also made sure people were following the campground rules. There was a Labor Day weekend group who were not following the campground rules and Shiela did bring their attention to it. However, they continued to break the rules resulting in Shiela asking them to leave. This was a group of people from Reno, NV who were together. We, as well as other campers, were happy to see all of them go. We hope they won't be back next year.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
