Rita and I were very pleased with our week-long stay at Comanche Campground. Erik, the host, was so helpful with check-in and was attentive to any questions or needs we had on a daily basis. The amenities were excellent .. electricity, convenient vault toilets and potable water. The location was perfect for our 1st exploration of western S.D. - The Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Custer State Park with Needles Hwy, Wildlife Loop, etc. If considering camping in South Dakota, we highly recommend Comanche Campground. Rita loved the area and made a new best friend with Nari, Eriks sweet canine sidekick.

We stayed for a week in July. Had four sites for family. Eric was very nice. Greeted us when we first came in. Made sure everything was good throughout the week. Bathrooms were clean. We would definitely stay at this location again. We have Verizon and there was no service. We were ok with that.

Site was peaceful and quiet; there is shade, and the camp host was super friendly and helpful. There were water spigots, and the water tasted great (not something I could say of all the USFS campsites I have stayed at.

Pretty typical Forest campground-quiet. The restroom was terrible-I dont mind pit toilets but these were awful. The roads were also very pitted

It is a beautiful area with plenty of space between camp sites for nice privacy. The restrooms were exceptionally clean!!!Our camp host (Erick) was very friendly and helpful to answer any questions we had!We plan to return many times!

Loved this campground! Wide open sites, lots of trees, and quiet. The order of site numbers was not in a logical order, so familiarize yourself before getting there and going to your site. The road through the small campground is pretty rough.

Spot felt secluded even around others. Views were great and shaded well for hot days!

Our truck broke down and took a week for the dealer to repair it.We called that we would not be able to make our 4 night reservation and were refunded our money.

Stayed for 6 nights in May. The camp host here was excellent! The site was well maintained and quiet. Toilets were clean. Very nice spot close to Custer with easy access to the Black Hills, Wind cave and Jewel cave.

The camp host is a cool, friendly guy. Close to Custer if you need anything, but my favorite is that there is no cell service to unplug totally. This was our second time camping here.

Started out with site 25 but was unable to get our 20 foot trailer in due to boulders lining both the driveway and the road. The host, who was great, was able to put us in another site #15 which worked out great. Beautiful place, would go again.

Our camp host Eric was fantastic! The bathrooms were extremely clean, everything was easy to find from the main road, and the captions was well maintained and clean. Absolutely fantastic!

Campground host Eric was very welcoming and helpful; we enjoyed meeting and chatting (learning) from him. He keeps the grounds well managed and bathrooms cleaned/well supplied. Sites are good size and well separated. Campground is close to Rt 16 but noise was minimal and non-existent at night. We enjoyed our our two nights very much.

Great option for seeing this area. Great location for so many sights. Helpful host. Pit toilets were clean (no showers, as noted). Tidy campsite.

Nice campground, friendly host, close by to jewel cave and wind cave.
@JamesC5011896 · Camped on Jul 19, 2024 at Campsite #20
The camp site are spread out nicely so you are not on top of your neighbor. The campground is in dire need of an upgrade; extremely old vault toilets and some of the site shave large rocks, tree stumps, or trees impeding the use of awnings and patio mats.Beware: Sites 20 and 19 on the map are actually backwards at the campground. Site 20 is site 19 on the map and visa versa.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
